"The task ahead of us is never as great as the power behind us."

-Ralph Waldo Emerson

Is there a challenge or obstacle that is causing you dread or discouragement? Are the tapes in your head playing a negative tune?  "Don't bother with it, you know it won't work.  It hasn't worked in the past, so why would it do so now.  You aren't smart enough, talented enough, tall enough or strong enough to make this work."

A group of frogs were traveling through the woods, and two of them fell into a deep pit.  All the other frogs gathered around the pit. When they saw how deep the pit was, they told the two frogs that they were as good as dead.

The two frogs ignored the comments and tried to jump out of the pit with all of their might.  The other frogs kept telling them to stop, that they were as good as dead.

Finally, one of the frogs took heed to what the other frogs were saying and gave up. He fell down and died.  The other frog continued to jump as hard as he could. Once again, the crowd of frogs yelled at him to stop the pain and just die.

He jumped even harder and finally made it out.  When he got out, the other frogs said, "Did you not hear us?" The frog explained to them that he was deaf. He thought they were encouraging him the entire time.

The surviving frog not only couldn't hear the negative comments, but was equipped for the moment.  His mind was filled with faith, hope and determination.  Obviously he had turned off any negative tapes that had been played in his life.  As a result he was free to accomplish what appeared to be the impossible.

It is a new year...a time for new beginnings. Savor your joys and accomplishments of the past year.  Delete all the negative tapes.  Surround yourself with positive individuals, those who support and encourage you. Encourage them as well!  You were created for success, not defeat.  God's power is behind you in each of your pursuits.  Fill your mind with faith, hope and determination...and immerse yourself in optimism.  Believe you can accomplish the impossible, and you, too, just like the frog will soar to great heights of freedom!

 Have a blessed month!

Riddle Contest

A time when they're green, a time when they're brown,

But both of these times, cause me to frown.

But just in between, for a very short while,

They're perfect and yellow, and cause me to smile!

What am I talking about here?
