"This New Life: Film of Meherabad Play"
 (hosted by Sam Ervin)

On February 25, 2016 in Meherabad a group of devoted Baba Lovers undertook the exciting challenge of putting on a play that had previously been performed at Meherana, but now had an entirely new cast and staging.

"This New Life" a play about the incredibly unique period of Meher Baba's life and work known as "The New Life," was written and developed by Ralph Brown Greg Dunn , and Michalene Seiler and was first performed at Meherana in northern California. It later was rendered as a dramatic reading at Meherabode in Los Angeles.

The film we will be screening this coming Sunday at Meherabode October 22nd) documents a performance of the same play with an entirely new cast and stage crew, who as mentioned above gave their performance last February in Meherabad, India. One of the play participants, Sam Ervin, (who played Kaka and the village doctor) will be hosting the program/screening.

This particular version of the play was graced by the participation of many enthusiastic creative voices. Alan Wagner both directed the play and served as the narrator. Laurel Beymer was the Assistant Director and Stage Manager, Larry Thrasher was the Technical Director, Ward Parks was the Musical Director, and Nadia Wolinski served as the Artistic Designer and Coordinator.

It was a special treat for the cast and all involved to get to work with Amrit Irani, who was responsible for costumes, and who made sure that each character would be dressed in a manner similar to the way the mandali or other personages who were being depicting from that time period would have dressed.

Some of the cast members were Carla De Sousa, Aishwarya Thade, Kristina Filipovic, Sam Ervin, Kristin Kehler, Farshid Namiranian, Mingus Rigg, Gary Kleiner, Charlie Kehler Vladimir Madic, Ernest Saunders, Brendan Houlihan and Hughie MacDonald. A complete list of the cast and crew will be distributed at the program/screening.

Play director and narrator Alan Wagner provides the introduction.

Please come join us this coming Sunday to enjoy a heartfelt and humorous look into that special time in Meher Baba's Advent known as "The New Life."
