The Welcome the Stranger Project Invites You to a Progressive Dinner on March 25
The Welcome the Stranger Project Invites You to Attend A Progressive Dinner Party on Saturday, March 25th. Please join our Old North, Temple Emanu-el and St Andrews community for dinner at congregants' homes followed by sumptuous desserts and conviviality at St Andrews. March 25th is just around the corner.   Please RSVP to  attend: Deahn Leblang ([email protected]) or Marcy Bernstein ([email protected]). So that we can plan, please let Deahn or Marci know by the beginning of next week.  Of course, last minute attendees will still be welcome.  Suggested donation is $30 per couple or $15 per individual.  Checks can be placed in the Sunday offering plate or mailed to Old North Church.  (Please make the check out to Old North Church and note "RIM Progressive Dinner" on the lower left side message space.)  Also, feel free to bring your check or cash to the event.   Following are more details about the evening:
  • Dinners will be hosted at the homes of different congregational volunteers.
  • There will be approximately 6 - 8 people at each dinner.
  • The guest list at each dinner will bring together a mix of people from each of the congregations so it's a great opportunity to meet our neighbors
  • We will all come together for dessert at St. Andrews Church (135 Lafayette Street, Marblehead)
  • Folks will be notified about their dinner assignment during the week before the dinner.
It will be a pleasure to see you on March 25th!
Old North Lenten Series:
Telling Our Stories
Lent can be a time of deep reflection and connection to the Holy within, and with each other.  At Old North, we will continue our practice of gathering for a simple meal and conversation on the Wednesdays of Lent, at 6:15 in the Great Room at Stacey Street.  This year our theme is based on our mission to connect with one another by "Telling Our Stories."   Each week we will explore a common theme in our journeys of life and spirit. Come prepared to listen and/or to share.   We will finish in time for Festival Chorus rehearsal.  See our meeting dates and themes, below. Please, join us!
March 15:  Formation:  As a child or youth, what were the events that you look back to that helped shape you?  Is there a particular experience with a person or a group of people?  What were your big questions? What was your experience of God? Jesus? Church?
March 22:  Connection:   Who and what played a role in your calling and passions? Your chosen profession(s)?   What world events made a lasting impact on you?  Books? Bands? Artists? Musicians? How did your faith and spirituality play a part (if it did)?
March 29:  Pilgrimage:  Dennis Calhoun will share the story of his recent pilgrimage to Israel/Palestine, complete with a slide show.
April 5: Life Lessons:  We will take time to reflect on the biggest life learnings that we have received (maybe by accident? by colossal mistakes? humorous event? divine intervention) and what wisdom we might want to pass on to our children, grandchildren, friends, and the world.

ONC Women's Gathering
March 30th 7pm
All ONC women are invited to our second gathering this year!  We will meet on Thursday, March 30th from 7pm to 8:30pm in the Great Room at Stacey Street.  Stop by for a time of connecting and deepening with other women in our community, while sipping on a seltzer or a glass of wine and nibbling on small bites!  Come as you are~~and enjoy a time of just being.  (Feel free to bring a bottle of wine or small bite to share, but don't let it be a burden.)  We will have more than enough!)  Any questions, please contact Karla.
Lenten Concert - Sunday April 9th
Our annual Lenten Concert is part of the observance of Holy Week at Old North Church, therefore we do not sell tickets or program ads; we think of this as a "musical reflection" and not a commercial undertaking. If you would like to help defray the production costs of our beautiful Michael Haydn Requiem project, you are cordially invited to submit a donation - in any amount- In Loving Memory or as a Sponsor. Donations are due no later than Wednesday, April 5, 2017. Please click here to view and print a donation form.
About ONC's Caring Ministry
Just over two years ago, thanks to the kindness of many of you in offering to help, we set up the Caring Ministry .  The purpose of the Ministry was to offer help to senior members of Old North who found themselves in a situation where their own family or friends were unavailable to assist them.   We received a good number of requests which we were delighted to honour.   The request flow seems to have dried out, however, so we are here to relaunch the Ministry. To all members of our wonderful ONC community, young and not so young, please reach out to us should you find yourself needing some urgent help.  Ways in which our team could assist you might include doctor visits, dog walks, company whilst home bound, shopping etc etc.  Our team is all CORI cleared and ready to help you get through a crisis.  Please contact either
Linda Duvel (781 631 1703) or Lynda Hare (781 639 0107) for further information.

Our Caring Ministry in Action

Long-time church member Lloyd Caswell has been hospitalized at Lahey Hospital in Burlington. It is not clear where he will be discharged to. His sister Carol Guy tells us that he greatly appreciates hearing from friends at Old North. If you would like to cheer him up with a card or note, you can send them in Carol's Care:

Real Program/Old North Church Children's Day
The Real Program of Lynn and Old North Church Children's Day event is planned for Saturday, April 8. The Children's Church Committee has planned the day for building friendships, with Legos, lunch and time with Curious Creatures. The children have been busy preparing for the day by sharing what it is to invite friends into our home and what hospitality looks and feels like when we open our doors and hearts to new friends. With Lemonade and Mission Muffin sales, and your generosity the children have raised $340 to put toward the day. If you would like to make a donation you can send it along to the office noting "The Children's Day", give it to a Committee member or leave in the Donation jar on Sunday mornings. Thank you for your generosity and for being examples of Christ's light for the youngest in your church family.
