Bible Sunday |
Bible Sunday, April 30th
On April 30th, the children of the 3rd grade will receive their bibles. The Children's Church Committee would like to invite all of the families and children of Children's Church to celebrate this special day with a Pot Luck Breakfast at 9:00a.m. in the Parish Hall. Please bring a dish to share.
Do you remember receiving your bible from your home church? We invite you to bring your bible with you on April 30th as we celebrate the 3rd graders receiving theirs. Do you have treasures pressed inside it? A bookmark? A special note? A pressed flower from a special occasion? What verse or story stirs you? What memories does your First Bible hold for you? I hope you will share!

It's Our Turn to Stock the Food Pantry! Sunday is the Last Day to Bring Groceries. |
Twice annually, in April and November, the ONC Christian Service Committee collects food items for donation to the Marblehead Food Pantry. The Marblehead Food Pantry, housed in the Star of the Sea Community Center at 80 Atlantic Avenue, was founded in 1991 in response to the economic downturn at that time. It is a community pantry, supported by financial and food donations from Marblehead's schools, churches, synagogues, scout troops, businesses, organizations, and individuals. Food assistance is provided to anyone in need, as long as they can prove Marblehead residency. Your support of this food drive, in goods or financial donations, is greatly appreciated!

Music Sunday - May 14th |
Our annual Music Sunday will take place on Sunday, May 14th and will be a service devoted to sacred jazz. All choirs will participate and there will be guest instrumentalists performing for our prelude, postlude and throughout the service. This special service of music is one of many sponsored by the Music Patrons Fund at Old North. The annual collection for the fund will be taken that day, although donations are gratefully accepted throughout the year. Our "Jazz Sunday" is intended for family worship and a great way to start off on Mother's Day. Please mark your calendars!

There is Something Wonderful to Celebrate at Old North Church! |
There is Something wonderful to celebrate at Old North Church!
On May 18, 1817 at 8:00 am the first Sunday School classes of Old North Church gathered at the chapel on Pearl Street, yes, 200 years ago! As I was greeted by many members back in January, I had been told that I had arrived to one of the oldest, if not the oldest church schools. I had been looking forward to exploring the history, and making time to meet with the "Story Keepers" of the church and begin to unfold the timeline when I came across the story in "Under the Golden Cod" of Rev. Dana's work to bring Christian Education to the children of Marblehead. I have since read about Anniversary Sundays and found many years of the worship bulletins and essays dating back to the 100 year celebration. I would like to celebrate this remarkable milestone over the year. I would love to hear your stories, gather names of superintendents, teachers and of course the children... prepare celebrations. We are in a new time and place of what Children's Church looks like, far different from Rev Dana's church school, but the love and commitment to the children here at Old North Church still hold truth and it feels so right to celebrate your past, and savor the present as we move into the future. If you would like to be a part of planning what the celebration might look like, please contact me [email protected]
