MInistry Matters

This month St. Michael's is beginning a new ministry focus we're calling Ministry Matters. Each month, we will focus on one or more of our congregation's ministries. Information about the ministry of the month will be featured on the website and Noticias. On one Sunday, ministry members will share stories about their work at each of the morning services, and host fellowship in the Parish Hall to give everyone a chance to get more information, ask questions, and sign up to participate.

Calling All Campers

Camp Stoney will have a full season of camp this summer! There are camps for youth in grades 3 to 12, as well as a week of family camp for kids of any age to attend with a parent or other adult. A camp schedule and registration forms can be found on the diocesan website: http://www.dioceserg.org/pages/view/camp_stoney

P
3 Sale

On April 26, the All Angels Episcopal Day School will be holding a fundraiser for school improvements. The sale will feature Plants, Pots and Pie Cards. For more information please contact AAEDS at [email protected].

Casa San Miguel

It was a genuine pleasure to speak to the congregation this past Sunday to explain what the food pantry is and what we do.  Because our activities take place during the day on Mondays and Tuesdays, it is difficult for people with 8:00 to 5:00 jobs to take part and, so, the majority of the volunteers at the pantry are retired.  But even if you are still employed, there are 70 other ministries at St Michael and All Angels and there's a good chance that there might be something that will fit both your interests and the time you have available to volunteer.Ministries are a very special part of our church.  Ministries represent an extension of the basic functions of the church and they allow for the congregation to actively engage in the workings of the church.  Volunteers can assist in Sunday services or pastoral care or outreach or any of many other areas of church life.  We have 71 active ministries, each contributing something unique to the overall fabric of St Michael and All Angels.  Perhaps you will discover something that moves you to be involved.  You will be pleased with the result.

Volunteers Needed

The week of June 14 - 21 is Discovery Camp, run by the NW deanery, and we need adult volunteers to assist for all or part of the week! We need people to lead or assist with art and crafts, hiking, swimming, or to help in the kitchen. If you are interested talk to Rev. Kristin.

Community Connections Book Drive

Community Connections will be holding a book drive to support students at La Luz and MacArthur Elementary Schools.

We are asking the SMAA community for donations of new or gently used English or Bilingual books suitable for kids age kindergarten through fifth grade. Our goal is to provide these students with the opportunity to have their own book (often times their first one) as they start summer break. Collections will be held on April 19 & 26, in the patio area, during all four services. Thank you for your support of this ministry. For more information or if you are interested in volunteering contact Kathy Poorbaugh 884-3723.

Christian Action & Contemplation

"Christian Action and Contemplation" is an 8 week course which will begin on May 12, 2015. The course is open to anyone, and especially appropriate for Newcomers or people who would like to explore the deep sense of prayer which is at the core of St Michael's community.  Classes will meet Tuesday evenings, 6:30-8:30 p.m. from May 12 through June 30, at no charge to participants. It is important that participants make a commitment to the course for the entire eight weeks if at all possible. Sign-up for the course should be made with Dale Lange either through his email address ([email protected]) or by phone at 505 298-9138

Monday Night Movies

Movie Nights will resume on Monday, April 20.  Mondays at 6:00 pm we will gather in the Pavilion to watch a film.  Afterwards we will break into small groups to discuss the movie and how the subject or conflict affects our lives as Christians.  EVERYone is welcome to attend.

April 27: Pride (2014) Billy Nighy, Imelda Staunton

Inspired by a true story.  It's the summer of 1984 and much of blue-collar Great Britain is on strike.  For one tiny Welsh village, the strike brings unexpected visitors - a group of London-based gay activists who decide to raise money to support the strikers' families and want to make their donations in person.  The two groups seemingly from worlds apart discover that standing together makes for a strongest union of all.

May 4: Godspell (1973) Victor Garber

 May 11: NO MOVIE TONIGHT

May 18: Love is Strange (2014) John Lithgow, Alfred Molina

May 25: Memorial Day, NO MOVIE TONIGHT

Cafe Justo

We will be ordering coffee again from CAFE JUSTO right after Easter.   IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PLACE EITHER A MONTHLY OR A ONE TIME COFFEE ORDER, please let me know by email ([email protected]) and I will include it in our larger order.  You will be notified when it arrives and can pick it up from Kathryn in the office.  We hope to continue to support the CAFE JUSTO cooperative by ordering bulk coffee for our coffee hour as well as supplying parishioners with the option to purchase this Organic delicious coffee grown and roasted by families of farmers in Chiapas and Agua Prieta, Mexico.   You can order Whole Bean or Ground coffee in 1 lb. sealed bags for $10.00 a pound - Regular or Dark roast or Decaf.   By selling directly through churches like St. Michael's, the cooperative enables the farmers to make a living wage, allowing the families to stay together on their land.

San Isidro Labrador

The Live at Five Community of St. Michael's will be holding a celebration for the Feast of San Isidro Labrador on May 17 at 5 p.m. in the Meadow.
