The class serves those interested in adult Baptism, Confirmation, Reception into the Episcopal Church or Reaffirmation of faith. It is also helpful for anyone who has transferred to our parish and serves as a refresher for those who have not explored these subjects recently.

St. Martin's Breakfast

Sign up today to serve or provide food at St. Martin's breakfast next Sunday April 12th. You can sign up at the table today or make a donation. This is a fun and easy ministry of St. Michaels church - we go every other month.

Casa San Miguel

We can always use bags - either paper or plastic.  Every family gets at least one paper sack filled with staple foods (past, rice, canned goods, etc.) and the plastic bags are used to bag produce as they go through the food line.

Separately, we want to thank everyone who was responsible for decorating the church for Easter.  Easter Sunday is a day of immense joy, but the colorful butterflies throughout the nave were inspiring and made the moment far more festive.  All the hard work was appreciated.

High Scorers

Easter bonnets may or may not be on display on Thursday, April 9 when St Michael's seniors gather for the ever-popular High Scorers pot luck lunch in the church hall.  The meeting starts at 12 noon, and all are welcome to this social occasion.  A bit of gossip, a bite to eat, a renewal of old friendships and a chance to make new ones

Community Connections Book Drive

Community Connections will be holding a book drive to support students at La Luz and MacArthur Elementary Schools.

We are asking the SMAA community for donations of new or gently used English or Bilingual books suitable for kids age kindergarten through fifth grade. Our goal is to provide these students with the opportunity to have their own book (often times their first one) as they start summer break. Collections will be held on April 19 & 26, in the patio area, during all four services. Thank you for your support of this ministry. For more information or if you are interested in volunteering contact Kathy Poorbaugh 884-3723.

Christian Action & Contemplation

"Christian Action and Contemplation" is an 8 week course which will begin on May 12, 2015. The course is open to anyone, and especially appropriate for Newcomers or people who would like to explore the deep sense of prayer which is at the core of St Michael's community.  Classes will meet Tuesday evenings, 6:30-8:30 p.m. from May 12 through June 30, at no charge to participants. It is important that participants make a commitment to the course for the entire eight weeks if at all possible. Sign-up for the course should be made with Dale Lange either through his email address ([email protected]) or by phone at 505 298-9138

Flower Dedications

We are so grateful to have beautiful flowers in the church on Sundays.  This is possible because of parishioner donations.   In order to assure your dedication is in the bulletin at the right time:

Please verify with Kathryn in the office all your flower donations. If you are donating flowers, sign YOUR NAME on the flower chart and fill out a donation card with the name and information of the person/people you are honoring.  Get that card to Kathryn at least two weeks before the dedication date to insure it is included in the bulletin.  And please remember to include payment. Unfortunately, Kathryn does not always know the difference between the name of the parishioner and the person being honored.  This creates confusion and the possibility that your dedication will not be done correctly.

Cafe Justo

We will be ordering coffee again from CAFE JUSTO right after Easter.   IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PLACE EITHER A MONTHLY OR A ONE TIME COFFEE ORDER, please let me know by email ([email protected]) and I will include it in our larger order.  You will be notified when it arrives and can pick it up from Kathryn in the office.  We hope to continue to support the CAFE JUSTO cooperative by ordering bulk coffee for our coffee hour as well as supplying parishioners with the option to purchase this Organic delicious coffee grown and roasted by families of farmers in Chiapas and Agua Prieta, Mexico.   You can order Whole Bean or Ground coffee in 1 lb. sealed bags for $10.00 a pound - Regular or Dark roast or Decaf.   By selling directly through churches like St. Michael's, the cooperative enables the farmers to make a living wage, allowing the families to stay together on their land.

AAEDS Director Anne Duran

My name is Anne Duran and I am honored to be the new Director of the All Angels Episcopal Day School. I've lived inNew Mexico for 29 years and graduated from New Mexico State University. I was a Pre-K teacher for 13 years, assistant director of St. John's Preschool Plus for 4 years and I am on schedule to complete my Master's Degree in Early Childhood Development this Spring. My husband Frank and I have been married for 24 wonderful years and we are the proud parents of Ema, an amazing young lady who will be graduating from Albuquerque Academy in May. I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, reading, cooking, baking, walking our 3 dogs, all things Disney and watching sports, especially Lobo Basketball. I am passionate about early childhood development and I am so excited about continuing the amazing work that Becky Stewart has done and join the rest of the day school staff to serve the children and parents of the St. Michael's community.

Next Week and Beyond
Soul Seeds for Living Whole-Heartedly

A Meditative Writing Retreat with Fr. Francis Dorff, O.Praem.

Saturday, April 18, 2015, 9 a.m.- 4 p.m., Norbertine Hermitage Retreat, 5825 Coors Blvd. SW, Abq.

As it goes full cycle, all of our meditative work in relating heart-to-heart is meant to overflow creatively into the actions of our everyday lives.  The key question then becomes how to help this happen.  We will spend this day of retreat collecting soul seeds from our inner experience so that we can carry their whole-hearted character with us wherever we go, and plant and cultivate them wherever they want to grow.  In this way our meditative work will become a moveable feast and we can begin living from a whole-hearted depth that goes far beyond the heart-breaking divisions that characterize much of the world around us. Please register by Thursday, April 16, by calling 505-873-4399 or email us at  [email protected].

The $55.00 offering for the retreat includes lunch.  No previous experience with meditative writing is needed.

Our client "money-free" store is powered by donations from community members, containing household goods, decor, and more!
