Boualem Sansal, descendant d'anciens Berbères, né dans un village des montagnes algériennes. Il a commencé à écrire en 1997 à l'âge de 48 ans. Ses livres ont connu beaucoup de succès et ont gagné de nombreux prix en France et en Allemagne. Il est actuellement reconnu comme l'un des principaux auteurs français de notre siècle.
