Building a firm foundation
  through Christ-centered education

Hello MCS Families!

We are hopeful that you have had a wonderful summer full of experiences that bond families and friendships together. While time to recharge the batteries is essential, please know that we have missed all of you and the building is ready to come alive again with the kind of life and vibrancy only you can bring. Through continual Professional Development opportunities, impromptu meetings and constant email discussion, our staff has stayed in contact over the summer. Even though we will not be fully back together until this coming Monday, I can say with certainty that our staff is ready and excited for the new school year. We wait with anticipation to begin this year focused on our five MCS Core Values: Love for Christ, Exemplary Academics, Whole Child Focus, Connected Community and Culture of Innovation. With only two short weeks left until your return, we wanted to reach out to you with some important updates about the 2017-2018 school year.

2017-2018 MCS Theme
The Administrative Team has prayed through and been in significant discussion over the theme this year. All ideas and verses that came forward seemed to have this connectedness to where true joy can really be found. So, the 2017-2018 MCS Theme will be: joyFULL and our theme verse will be Psalm 16:11 "You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore." (ESV)

Construction
It has been quite a summer at MCS! We are excited to unveil our new MCS Makerspace at our Meet the Teacher Event on September 5th and our brand new kitchen to be unveiled in mid-September. It is with gratitude to our Fund-A-Vision donors that we complete these projects and realize the amazing opportunities these spaces will yield for all of our students!

When you come on campus you will also realize that we had a few other construction projects in the works. We have completely redesigned our Front Reception area and Admissions suite. We desire for these spaces to tell the story of who we are as a community/school and to provide an excellent customer service experience. These projects will be completed during the first week of September. Thank you all for your support! We have only begun to scratch the surface of student and community centered enhancements within our building.

MCS Calendar Change
We have made a calendar change for the end of the school year. The last day of school will be Wednesday, June 13th with the last teacher reporting day Friday, June 15th. This change came as a result of reflection on how we end the year with events and testing. Please view our updated 2017-2018 school year calendar at this link.

Elementary Class Placement
Class placement will be sent on Wednesday, August 30th, via email by Mrs. Biancalani. Follow up welcome emails will be sent by the classroom teachers on Thursday, September 1st. The class parent will also be identified at that time.

Middle School Schedules
Middle School Parents may log on to RenWeb beginning Friday, September 1st, to access their child's assigned Schedule and Homeroom Teacher.

Elementary and Middle School Goals
As noted above, our team stands ready to further develop within our five MCS Core Values. For more details on specific goals for Middle School and Elementary please take the time to read these letters from Mrs. Harrison ( click here) and Mrs. Biancalani ( click here) .

A Prayerful Community on the First Day
Once again this year, we want to call upon our community to spend a few more minutes together in prayer to our King and the plans He has for MCS this year. On Wednesday, September 6th, our gates will open at 7:30 as usual. We will then all join together as a Middle and Elementary School and pray over our students corporately at 8:00. For this day only, all of our students will go in together at 8:10 (with the exception of 8th graders who will have their picture taken.) From 8:15 to 8:45 our Parents in Prayer (PIP) group and Community Connectors will have stations set up around the school with topics to go before the Lord in prayer. We are hopeful you will be able to stop at one station or even a few. We will be sending out the prayer station topics and locations in advance. Please mark your calendar to join us!!
