MOTHER NATURE TAKES A SWING AT THE GOLF LAB OPEN
FONTHILL, ON (May 1, 2017) – In week two, The Tour headed west to the lovely Lookout Point Golf Club. The players were ready to battle a course known for its zippy and escarpment influenced greens, requiring finessed putter and wedge play along with disciplined tee shots. But mother nature had her own plans for the day and would have her way, forcing the event to be cut short.
This Walter J. Travis designed, 18 hole, championship course is considered a “golfer’s golf course”. Members and visitors alike agree that Lookout Point provides a real golf challenge, with every round played. Lookout Point is consistently ranked among the Top 100 Courses in Canada, by Score Magazine!
Early day rounds would see Joel Giornofelice cap the Champ Flight shooting 76, Mark Rodgers hot on his heels carding 79 and Mike Kavander slamming the door shut on two others locked at 80 to steal third. A Flight saw Dean Weber fire a smooth as jazz 79 for the win, long time Tour member Chris Corvese securing second place with 83 and Andrew Susands landing third with 84. B Flight was reduced down to nine holes thanks to mother nature and Russ Anderson paced with smoking 38, Brad Beghetto sneaking into second with 40 and third place would be secured by Frank O'Brien with 41. Before the day was over, the Seniors' Flight also managed a 9 hole competition with David Johnson scoring 41 and Ross Scanlon a sneaky 42. Seniors' Net saw Leo Henhoeffer finish with a net 24, closely followed by Axel Pankin with a net 25.
C Flight and Women's Flights were cancelled due to weather.
