PLAYERS RIDE THE WAVE AT BEVERLY GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB
COPETOWN (August 4, 2016) - The week, the Tour competitors were participating in the Bright Blue Wave Challenge, hosted at the Beverly Golf & Country Club where Mother Nature was, once again, shining at her best. The Robbie Robinson designed course has been improved continually over the past six decades. Notably, in 1999, the classic course design was updated by Doug Carrick, one of Canada’s most noted golf course architects and a former apprentice of Robbie Robinson. The course provided Tour players with an outstanding and time-honoured golf experience. With its naturally rolling terrain, impeccably groomed fairways, well-placed bunkers and superb greens, everything was in excellent condition. Beverly is truly one place you would never tire of playing. Today’s winners would be those who could stay focused on their golf game and off the weather and the beautiful surroundings.
Blue skies and hot sun would set the stage for this weeks Bright Blue Wave Challenge. Jason Gruenberg would come out firing 73 to lead the champ flight with Ryan Taylor and Jason Harding with a pair of 76's to capture second and third place finishes. A Flight had two players turning in matching 78's to force a playoff. David Everest and Josh Kingsmill would battle it out only to have David claim the win, Josh would settle for a second place finish and tour veteran Rick Wright securing third place. The B Flight was running a tight race with the top 10 players hot on the heels of each other like climbing a ladder. Andrew Schlegel claimed a first place finish shooting a fantastic 81, Andrew Mitchell landing in second with 82 and Russ Anderson securing third place shooting 83. Arthur Vanek of C Flight would claim his second win in as many weeks, turning in a wonderful round of 85, Jason Welsh was a close second shooting 87 and Kevin Fraser carding 90 for third. Senior A was won by John Stollery and the Women's flight crowned Laura DiFlorio as champ, recording a net 77.
