NEWS

On July 17, 2017, SWIFT staff and partners attended the OSEP 2017 Leadership Conference. Dr. Carol Quirk and Maryland SEA Coordinator Karla Marty participated on a large group panel with Dr. Jennifer Kurth from the University of Kansas. The three shared national and SWIFT data on inclusive practices with a packed audience of over 200 people, as well as stories of how SWIFT partner districts have built their capacity to support schoolwide implementation. Several state directors were present, as well as representatives from other national centers.

In addition, Dr. Jessica Meisenheimer and school administrators from SWIFT partners in Portland (Oregon) Public Schools—Kathleen Ellwood and Ivonne Dibblee—hosted two poster sessions titled "SWIFT Technical Assistance Process" and "Implementation of SWIFT Over Time." They were able to share an overview of our technical assistance approach, and more importantly, the story behind some of Portland’s successes.
