Good Afternoon,

We are excited to announce that two Long Beach proposals that aim to bring additional resources to local entrepreneurs have been selected as finalist in their respective applications, and we need your help to win! Below you'll find information on both proposals and how you can help push them forward.

Thank you for your support!
The City of Long Beach is a finalist for this year's City Accelerator project, which is focused on helping cities build and grow their network of local businesses and entrepreneurs of color. Cities that are chosen for the project will receive valuable support and resources from experts and peers to help them achieve their goals.

Selected cities will implement strategies to:

  • Strengthen existing partnerships and create new ones
  • Map the elements of an inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem
  • Identify strategies to provide access to credit and capital
  • Develop disaggregated performance measures and data sources to track their outcomes

As you can see, participating in this year’s cohort will give us an opportunity to further implement various Blueprint recommendations, particularly in the Business Assistance & Economic Inclusion Focus Areas. Help us secure a spot by viewing the story map below and giving us a 5 star rating!
DLBA, DDC, & CSULB-IIE Are Finalists in the My LA2050 Activation Challenge $200,000 Grant
The Downtown Long Beach Alliance (DLBA) has teamed up with Long Beach Downtown Development Corporation (DDC) and the Institute for Innovation & Entrepreneurship at California State University, Long Beach to promote The Sustainable Tech Intellectual Property Series (STIPES) in the 2018 MY LA2050 Activation Challenge.

Serving as one of five finalists for the award within the Create category, STIPES aims to impact minority and woman-owned firms, number of high-growth startups, patents per capita, and more. The series is focused on providing the tools and skills needed to identify and file patents and other intellectual property protections related to green/sustainable technologies, launching scalable businesses promoting entrepreneurship.

This STIPES proposal is also in alignment with the City’s Economic Development Blueprint, adopted in 2017, that defines priorities leading to the creation of businesses, well-paying jobs, and increase the standards of living for Long Beach’s diverse residents. The Blueprint advances a 10-year vision for Long Beach to serve as “the city of opportunity for workers, investors, and entrepreneurs.”
