Thank you for subscribing to my electronic newsletter. As an office, we strive to keep you informed of Sixth District and City-wide policy changes, special events, and highlights of our City. Correction from Last Newsletter
Our apologies for the misprint in last week's edition. Wrigley Area Neighborhood Alliance (WANA) meets the third Monday (not the first) of the month at Veterans Parks at 101 E 28th Street at 7:00pm. Please join them to discuss the Wrigley neighborhood. Here is a picture from their 10th Anniversary Celebration. Way to go WANA!
Special Events this Week
Food Distribution at McBride Park
Today, our office hosted a community clean-up on the 1800 block of Daisy Avenue. A dumpster, brooms, rakes, trash bags, and gloves were available for community use. The neighbors brought out their muscles and dollies and helped collect illegally dumped items in the area. WAY TO GO WRIGLEY. If you are interested in hosting a community clean-up in your neighborhood, please call my office at 562-570-6816. We are more than happy to coordinate clean-ups on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Community Clean-Up
Please join us for a community clean-up in the Wrigley area on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 3029 Daisy avenue from 8:00am-12:00pm. Nature on 10th Street
Please join AOC7 Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 8:30am-12:00pm at Craftsman Village Park (851 Orange Avenue) as they implement the second phase of their Neighborhood Partners grant along 10th Street. Tree planting, tree care, and arts activities will be taking place. For more information please call 562-758-5751.
Special Notice
Block Party/Street Closure Permit
Saturday, October 28, 2017, a block party/street closure permit has been granted to a private party. Barricades will be placed on E 19th Street at Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and E 19th Street at N Linsley Court from 8:00am-5:30pm. Please plan your route accordingly. Upcoming Events
15th Street Bike Blvd and Pedestrian Safety Community Meeting

Please join us Monday, October 23, 2017 at McBride Park at 1550 Martin Luther King Jr Avenue at 7:00pm to discuss a proposed bike lane coming to 15th Street in the Sixth District. Staff members from the Department of Public Works will be presenting the project, its impact to the community, and answering questions related to pedestrian safety.

Disability Employment Awareness Month

The City of Long Beach along with the Citizen's Advisory Commission on Disabilities will be hosting a resource fair at Veteran's Park Community Center (101 E 28th Street) on Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 1:00pm-3:00pm. Keynote speaker will be Councilmember Dee Andrews. Please join us for this public celebration.

Midtown Neighborhood Association

Central Neighborhood Advisory Committee (CNAC)
CNAC meets the second Wednesday of every month at 4:00pm at Burnett Library at 560 E Hill Street. Please e-mail their President Jose Flores for more information.
Midtown Business Improvement District

The Midtown Business Improvement District (BID) is not a neighborhood association, but a district created to promote and market the Anaheim Street commercial corridor. Its members are all business or property owners along Anaheim, who work together to promote commerce and community partnerships. Please visit their Facebook page for more information.
Wrigley Area Neighborhood Alliance (WANA)
WANA meets the third Monday of every month at Veteran's Park at 101 E 28th Street at 7:00pm. If their meeting day falls on a holiday, their meeting is rescheduled to the following Monday. Please visit their Facebook page for more information.
Sunny Central Neighborhood Association
Sunny Neighborhood Association is in its early stages, and does not meet on a regular basis quite yet. Stay tuned for updates!
