Beyond Less With More

With a Forum theme of "Leading with Better Questions," we are reminded of the ambition behind forming our non-profit in 2000, to host an annual event that fosters better thinking about thinking.  The late Paul MacCready, a keynote speaker at our second Forum, in 2003, used the phrase "more with less" to define his ambitions with efficient flight. His designs are legendary and his passion for efficient design continues within AeroVironment, the company he founded in 1971, with the award-winning nano hummingbird. (Working smarter, not harder, to achieve designs that embody continuum thinking; "farther, higher, lighter, cheaper, and smaller."   Thinking and doing more with less will challenge those who think and seek perfection and those who strive to eliminate variation, defects, and waste and, in so doing, achieve less with more.

Thinking, planning, and doing more with less is also the ambition of college students on a limited budget and any elected official, from an assembly woman to a Prime Minister, trying to avoid imposing higher taxes on their constituents.   Working smarter together offers the promise of such outcomes to all organizations and relationships. As Tom Johnson, our frequent keynote speaker would remind us, extraordinary results through attention to work and people also offers us "profit beyond measure" as a financial outcome when we realize that costs are the effects of how we think.

If you're interested in exploring the limitless implications of doing more with less, we invite you to join with peers at the In2:InThinking Network 2012 Forum in Los Angeles, California on April 19th through 24th.  This year, our ever timely focus will be;
