WRS BREAKS GROUND ON
WALMART-ANCHORED POWER CENTER


MORGANTON, N.C. -- Mount Pleasant, S.C-based WRS has broken ground on a 450,000-square-foot, WalMart-anchored power center at the former site of the Henredon manufacturing facility in Morganton. Additional anchor tenants include TJ Maxx, Ross Dress for Less and PetsMart. Phase I of the development will be completed in the summer of 2013. In addition to the 177,000-square-foot WalMart, the power center will include approximately 100,000 square feet of shop space and seven outparcels. WRS will manage development and leasing/sale activities on behalf of the owner, Morganton Retail Investment.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-based Beacon Partners has purchased 2 million square feet of office and industrial space with acquisitions of four Charlotte business parks in December: Century Place, Commerce Park, Granite Distribution Center and Carowinds Distribution Center. Chris Riley of CB Richard Ellis' investment properties institutional group represented the seller and Wells Fargo Bank provided financing for the transaction. Beacon Partners specializes in warehouse and office development, investment, leasing and management.

STORR OFFICE ENVIRONMENTS BUILDING SELLS FOR $10.5M IN SALE-LEASEBACK

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Rochester, N.Y.-based Broadstone Net Lease, Inc., a private REIT, has acquired the Storr Office Environments building in Raleigh's World Trade Park for $10.5 million in a sale-leaseback transaction. The 135,000-square-foot building was built by Storr in 1999 and has been occupied by Storr since 2002. Storr will continue to lease the entire space, which is part office, part warehouse, for 12 years. Storr Office Environments sells new and used office furniture and commercial floor coverings. In addition, Storr provides the following services: space planning, design, project management, installation, commercial move services, asset management and storage, records management and furniture rental and refurbishment.

ELON UNIVERSITY TO BUILD

ELON, N.C. -- Elon University is set to build a 15,058-square-foot building to house its new multi-faith center. Choate Construction Co. has been chosen by Elon University to complete the project, which will be named Numen Lumen Pavilion. It will be the final building in Elon's Academic Village quad. The two-story building will feature a circular sacred space adjoined by a multi-purpose room, a mediation room, a classroom, meeting and study rooms, and offices of the Vera Richardson Truitt Center for Religious and Spiritual Life. Spillman Farmer will serve as the project architect.

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Stuart Wyeth of Greenville-based NAI Earle Furman has been elected as the global chairman of the NAI Global Office Council. In this role, he will collaborate with offices throughout the country on ways to increase business generation and educational opportunities. He will also drive the programming of panel discussions and education at the global convention. Wyeth began his association with NAI Earle Furman in 2005 while completing his master's degree in city and regional planning at Clemson University.
