Arriving in a few days will be a previously unannounced addition to the 1/43 scale Indy car lineup from Replicarz. It is the 1971 USAC National Championship winning #15 Samsonite Special PJ Colt driven by the multi-talented Joe Leonard.

In his first season as a full-time driver for Vel's Parnelli Jones Racing, 'Pelican Joe' was a model of consistency, scoring top 6 finishes in the first three races. He led 21 laps of the 1971 Indianapolis 500 before retiring with turbocharger problems but rebounded to take 2nd in the next two races. Later that season, Leonard won the California 500 at Ontario Motor Speedway and clinched the USAC National Championship with a 3rd place finish at Phoenix.

Leonard - now wearing #1 - along with Al Unser and Mario Andretti formed the powerful 3-car Vel's Parnelli 'Super Team' in 1972. He repeated as USAC National Champion on the strength of three consecutive victories at Michigan, Pocono and Milwaukee.

Produced in a Limited Edition of just 150 pieces, the Joe Leonard 1971 Samsonite Special Vel's Parnelli Jones Colt is priced at $109.99.  You can reserve one HERE.

As we mentioned yesterday, four new 1/43 scale Indianapolis 500 winners by Replicarz are now available. We hope to have them by the weekend.

I had a chance to spend about an hour with my copy of Jim Clark: Racing Hero by Graham Gauld last night and came away incredibly impressed. The book is laid out alphabetically by topic (Chapman, Cortina, Hockenheim, Indianapolis, Lotus 25, Sally, etc). Each topic is covered by an essay by Gauld and an amazing selection of black & white and color photographs. It is perhaps the best book on Jim Clark I've ever seen. I'm very happy to add one to my collection and recommend it to all Clark fans.

We have a handful of copies available from the shipment that arrived yesterday and we are planning to restock in a few weeks.

$150.00 plus shipping.  Order HERE.

A big week for books. Automobile Year #62 is due to arrive later this week!
