As those of us who collect 1/43 scale models are painfully aware, prices have reached a rather high level in recent years and prevented us from adding some great models to our collections. We've passed along these concerns to the US distributors of the most popular lines, which (perhaps) had something to do with the lack of the 'annual' spring price increase this year but today we're doing something more:

Another impressive 1/18 scale diecast arrived from Minichamps this week. It's the Canon Porsche 956L, as driven to an 8th place finish at LeMans by Jan Lammers, Dr Jonathan Palmer and Richard Lloyd in 1983. The model features a removable tail section, opening doors and a nicely detailed engine and cockpit. We have a few more photos on our Facebook page.

Word from Replicarz is that they have made significant progress in their highly anticipated 1/18 scale STP Paxton Turbine as driven in the 1967 Indianapolis 500 by Parnelli Jones. Only a few changes were required on the last 'sample' delivered by the factory and according to 'Mark's Blog', Replicarz expects to authorize final production soon and promises a '4th Quarter, 2015' release.

The resin model will feature a removable engine cover and detailed engine. As expected, the price has been adjusted to $249.99 but all of that increase (and more) is going into producing this important model to the finest standards possible.

It was good seeing so many of you at Road America last week. Lots of big news coming out of Wisconsin over the weekend, including the long awaited return of Indy Cars in 2016. 

A word to the wise for those of you thinking about attending the big June 24-26 weekend in the Kettle Morraine. Within hours of the official announcement, local hotels in the Sheboygan area started filling up (we made our reservations before leaving for the track Saturday morning!). Prime camping will probably fill up early as well. If you don't want to drive in from Milwaukee every day or sleep in your car, book now.  We haven't seen this much excitement since the old Can Am days!
