Our People Perform
Shapiro & Duncan recently completed one of our most aggressive project schedules to date (5 months), a data center based in northern Virginia. Jobsite logistics proved to be a tremendous hurdle for our team and all trades involved due to the footprint of the jobsite. With a limited amount of area to work in, all deliveries had to be preplanned and coordinated to avoid congestion, delays, and safety issues while off-loading materials. A strategic plan was implemented in order to facilitate coordination, design, fabrication, delivery and placement of approximately 18,000 ft. of welded steel HVAC piping ranging in sizes from 10" to 3" in diameter. Some of the most unique HVAC aspects installed in the building were the Custom Leak Detection Systems and Chilled Water Systems. Read full case study.

Our People do the Right Thing
It is important you give your children the opportunity to explore career options at a young age. Parents, we invite you to be a kid for the day and explore the world of construction. Stop by the Washington Building Museum for THE BIG BUILD, a hands-on family festival of tools, trucks, and construction, between 10AM-4PM on Saturday, Oct. 15th. We have plenty of activities planned for you and your little ones:
  • Build on the Pipetree
  • Learn how to cut PVC pipe and create a piggy bank with the assistance of our experienced welders and pipe fitters
  • Test your welding skills on our Virtual Welding Simulator

Our People Drive Innovation


On July 11th, Shapiro & Duncan took a big step forward towards innovation and technology. Our Fab Shop located in Landover, Maryland is now 100% paperless! Five years ago we invested in our custom software FABMAN, but we had a minor setback. Read about our current solution and how it is a huge benefit to our clients here.
Our People Serve the Community
Shapiro & Duncan put our young "office" professionals to work in the "field" on a brutally hot July afternoon to weed and pick tomatoes, beans, peppers, eggplant, carrots, and potatoes. Their adventure was hosted by Associated Builders and Contractor's XYZ Group on Chocolate and Tomatoes Farm to help crush hunger in Maryland. Can you guess how many lbs. of food they collected?
