As of July 2017, there were more than 900 cryptocurrencies available and this continues to grow. New cryptocurrency can be created any time – how relevant is this to us? What should we know? Let’s explore together the issues that industry stakeholders and global regulators are tackling as virtual currencies continue making their way to the mainstream.

Ashok Goyal is a Senior Audit Manager with Berkower LLC. As Senior Audit Manager he has overall responsibilities with respect to investment fund audits. He works closely with Fund managers in providing audit services to domestic and offshore master-feeder and stand alone Funds, investing in long-short equities, options, future contracts, as well as cryptocurrency investment funds. He has over 10 years of experience in financial services practice.He holds Certified Public Accountant licenses in New York, New Jersey and Colorado and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (the ICAI).

Eileen Overbaugh
Counsel, Lowenstein Sandler

Eileen Overbaugh advises hedge funds, private equity funds, venture funds, and other pooled investment vehicles in connection with structuring, formation, and ongoing operations. She is also a trusted advisor on regulatory and compliance issues. Offering the benefit of extensive experience, Eileen negotiates seed and strategic investments as well as joint ventures, managed account arrangements, and other alternative investment relationships. Her practice is focused particularly on the business arrangements between principals of hedge funds and private equity funds, including governance of the investment manager and general partners of such funds. Beyond her investment management and compliance experience, Eileen also drafts and negotiates complex shareholder agreements, limited liability agreements, and joint venture agreements for companies in numerous industries. She received her J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law, summa cum laude and her B.A. from Drew University, summa cum laude.

Professor Rebecca Spang
Professor, Indiana University

Rebecca Spang is Professor of History at Indiana University, where she regularly teaches about the history of money and directs the Liberal Arts and Management Program. She has recently written about money’s history and its future for the Financial Times and the TLS and is the author of the prize-winning Stuff and Money in the Time of the French Revolution (Harvard University Press, 2015). Professor Spang studied history at Harvard and Cornell Universities, and previously held appointments at the University of Michigan, University College London, and the University of Tübingen (Germany).

Laura graduated from the International College of the Cayman Islands in December, 1999, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Accounting and held notable accounting positions in the US and locally, prior to joining Trident’s Cayman office in 1993. Laura has held various positions within Trident Trust in Cayman and their Mutual Fund Department for the last 24 years prior to becoming a Senior Project Manager – Compliance.
