SPONSOR A GIRL SCOUT FLOAT RIDER OR OUTWALKER

The Girl Scouts 2012 Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade float will feature some of our outstanding Girl Scouts riding and walking with the float. GSGLA is committed to providing this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity at no personal cost to all qualifying Girl Scouts. Help us by sponsoring a Girl Scout to ride on or outwalk with the float at $150 per girl. Your generous donation pays for rehearsals, costs associated with the parade, day-of event transportation, activities and refreshments. If you or anyone you know are interested (help us spread the word!), click here

Please note: Float riders and outwalkers will be selected by an independent committee. Sponsorships will not be connected to the selection process. To be eligible as a float rider or outwalker, Girl Scouts must have Early Bird Registered for the 2011-2012 membership year. Only Gold and Silver Awardees will be eligible to be outwalkers for the 5-mile parade route.

WHO WILL RIDE ON THE GSGLA FLOAT?

The GSGLA float is going to be a grand experience for everyone. A select group of Girl Scouts will even get the chance to ride on the float or walk with the float! The good news is that everyone can be a part of the float by riding on it -- virtually!

FLOAT RIDE: There is an independent committee that will be selecting the riders and outwalkers for the GSGLA float. Only Girl Scouts who Early Bird Registered for the 2011-2012 membership year will be eligible for a chance at this opportunity. For outwalkers, only Girl Scout Gold and Silver Awardees will be selected for the 5 mile walk with the float on the parade route. Selection process details will be provided very soon!

VIRTUAL FLOAT RIDE: We want the world to know that thousands of Girl Scouts made the float a reality, so we are aiming to have thousands of Girl Scouts ride on the float virtually! For just $5, your name and that of your Girl Scout, troop leader, volunteer, service unit manager, adult learning facilitator, alumnae, mother, daughter, and friend can all ride on the float! Click here to place a name on the float today!

NEW NATIONAL BOOKS & BADGES FOR THE 100TH!

One of the many ways GSUSA is celebrating Girl Scouts’ 100th Anniversary is by refreshing the look of program handbooks and badges to make them more contemporary, fun, exciting and engaging for girls and leaders.

This change will be phased in between September 2011 and June 2012. GSUSA is making available the contemporary and colorful Girl’s Guide to Girl Scouting in September 2011 and updated, fun badge and award activities in spring 2012, along with a revised handbook section. All badges and program books at all levels for girls and leaders are being retired except for the Journey books and awards.

Read more about these exciting changes HERE. In order for GSGLA to plan ahead and have enough badges and program handbooks for girls to complete their activities this year, we have tailored the online order form so that everyone can plan ahead. By e-mailing, faxing or walking in this form to our Service Center Shops, every effort will be made to get the merchandise needed.
