April 2, 2012

Dear Family Member or Supporter

Again we are in need of prayers and support for a family member. On February 10, 2012, David L. Chsim, Jr. passed, he was the father of Tatyana Chism, who last year was a member of both our Jr. Freshman and Freshman Cheer teams. David was a member of the Class of '93, Pontiac Central High.  Many of you were either his friend or classmate, and as you can imagine, his death presents a significant void in his two daughters' life. To help commemorate his life and bring education to Epilepsy which was a disease that David dealt with for some years; his daughters and Angie Colon-Chism (Tatyana's Mother) are organizing a team, and have signed up to participate in an Awareness Walk. As always, where we can assist our family members, we are encouraging as many Pontiac Panthers to join the Chism's in this endeavor as team mates.

Registration
Attached here please find the registration flyer link  for those of you who wish to place them in various locations throughout the community 2012 Registration Flyer

You can register your athlete by sending a letter of application with your son/daughter's name and a $50 deposit (certified check or money order), to the P.O. Box below. Please include your name as the parent and a phone number (and email address). You will be contacted in return to establish a payment plan, that requires your athlete to be paid in full by August 1, 2012.

Point to note, football coaches are desirous of last names being on jerseys; for that to happen, the entire team would need to have this complete by July 20, 2012. We will NOT have names on part of the team, its all or none for each level.
The Board has given its support to increase the registration fees; beginning April 1, 2012 the cost to register your athlete are below:
  • Football
    • Junior Freshman will be $225 for registration fee.
    • Freshman, Junior Varsity and Varsity Football will be $325 for registration fee.
  • Cheerleaders
    • All Levels  for Cheerleaders will be  $225 for registration fee.

We also have an "Open Registration Opportunity" at Playmakers University, (formerly Howard Dell), on Saturday, April 28, 2012, from 11am-1pm, we anticipate this will be a great turnout, and we hope and look forward to those of you whom have Facebook accounts to indicate your attendance by clicking on the link:  RSVP for Open RegistrationYour attendance also is an excellent opportunity to meet or reacquaint yourselves with the current and new members of our coaching staffs both Football and Cheer.

New President

Some of you have heard the rumors about the Panthers attaining a NEW President, and I want to inform you that this is not a rumor.  I will remain as the President for Football, however to be more efficient in how we serve our athletes and parents, Jennifer Washington, a long time volunteer, GM-Football, and member of the Board of Trustees, has accepted the challenge of being the President of Cheerleading.  As a result, we will now be able to effectively provide our "Award Winning Cheer Program" the full attention that it deserves, which is equal or better  to that of Football. No Tanesha Stephens-Taylor has not, nor will she be replaced. We already have the "Best Director of Cheer in the League," and we know that.

What the appointment of Ms. Washington does is enhance, or build upon the greatness that Cheer already has. We can all attest that each and every year, the Cheer Program gets better than the year previous. Jennifer brings a knowledge, understanding and experience to Cheer that I could not, and as a result, many more opportunities will exist or be expanded upon as of her working directly with Ms. Taylor.  In future communications you will receive joint messages from both of us.

We anticipate another exciting year to build upon last years' successes, and most important we look forward to you and your child's return.

Sincerely,

Richard T. Seay, MBA

Winning is not necessary, but rather developing fundamentals, friendships, and basic leadership skills will determine our success.
