15 Years and Thousands of Babies Later ...
April 30, 2016

By Ann Seacrest, RN, IBCLC
Executive Director of MilkWorks

Thousands of babies. Thousands of weight checks. Thousands of diaper changes. The past 15 years are chock full of thousands of memories.

Now comes the fun of taking a moment to reflect upon all that has happened since MilkWorks opened our doors in 2001. All of these thousands of babies have moved past learning how to breastfeed and are now taking on other challenges in their life. Britta, who sprouted wings for one of our holiday cards, is now taking ballet lessons and playing basketball and soccer.

MilkWorks is celebrating all of our milestones with a birthday party and a major fundraising campaign to make sure we are here for the thousands of babies yet to come.

Catching Up with a MilkBaby
As we celebrate our 15th birthday in 2016, we thought it would be fun to  reconnect with moms who came to MilkWorks for help, and find out what their "MilkBaby" is doing now.

Breastfeeding? AND Returning to Work?
Join the crowd! Many mothers in Nebraska return to work outside the home while breastfeeding. It is supported by our Fair Labor Standards Act and it can be done. But that does not mean it is easy!

What can we ALL do? Encourage Nebraska to follow the lead of New York in providing twelve weeks of paid leave!

Hey Mom, What's In Your Bag?
We asked Erica to show us what's in her Petunia Picklebottom diaper bag:

First, I adore my Petunia bag - it's very high quality and I can find things easily! I usually keep a Modern Burlap or A+A swaddle blanket in here for lots of reasons...to lay baby Jacob on while changing him, wipe his drool and keep the sun off him in the stroller. I also like to have my Covered Goods nursing cover handy because it doubles as a shopping cart cover too. I just picked up the tegu magnetic wooden blocks to keep my 3 year old occupied, along with some Dr. Suess snack bags, and I love my Chewable Charm necklace - its super stylish and safe for Jacob to chew on.

Awesome Erica! We love what you have in your bag (and thanks for letting us snoop around!)
