Congratulations! Ride Don't Hide Calgary has raised 35% of our goal and we couldn't have done it without your participation. We still have a way to go to get to our goal of $1.7 million across Canada, but we are confident we are going to make it because of people like you who care about mental health.

Ride Don't Hide raises awareness and funds that make a significant impact in our community. Your donation enable us to continue this work in our community, especially through our new Welcome Centre and Recovery College .

  • CMHA Calgary's Welcome Centre provides individuals, family members and the community with tools and skills to learn about mental health and wellbeing. In addition, visitors are provided with information about supports and services available for those with a mental health or substance use concern. Staffed by our Peer Supporters, those individuals with personal or family experience of a mental health or substance use concern, our Welcome Centre is open to everyone, with support available in person, through email or over the phone. No appointment necessary.
  • Using an educational-based approach, Recovery College offers courses to help people recognize and develop their own resourcefulness and awareness in order to support themselves or their loved one's recovery journey. All of our courses are developed in partnership with our peer supporters and students who are experts by experience: they have their own personal experience of a mental health or substance use concern, or are supporting a loved one. Everyone is welcome to attend our free courses on recovery and wellbeing. No previous experience or education level is required. With more than 30 courses to chose from, there is a course for everyone. For more information click here.

By raising funds, you are helping youth, families and individuals in your community get the help and support they need!
Raise Funds and Win Prizes!

Did you know that you could win prizes for fundraising? We want to celebrate YOU for all you've done for Ride Don't Hide by giving you a change to win BIG! Prizes range from Ride Don't Hide gear to gift certificates to
an all-inclusive vacation!

  • Raise more than $500 and receive a Ride Don't Hide gym bag.
  • Raise more than $1,000, $2,000 or $5,000 and receive a Ride Don't Hide cycling jersey specific to that fundraising level.
  • All incentive prizes and jersey's will be handed out with Rider Kits on Friday, June 22 or Sunday, June 24.
Here are some fun and creative ideas for how you can raise funds for Ride Don't Hide:

  • Teach a seminar on a topic you know. Lead or get someone to lead a nature walk, an architectural tour, a historic tour, a sailing trip, a rafting trip, or a horseback ride - ask for people to donate an amount.
  • Organize a garage sale with the intention of donating the proceeds, and get several other houses on your street to get involved as well. Go around to your neighbors and tell them you will take their stuff outside and sit with it all day to sell it if they will donate half or all of the proceeds to your group. Since this is stuff people want to be rid of anyway, it is a good deal for them.
  • Ask a few of your family or friends to donate their change.
  • Collect cans for recycling. Ask all your friends to save their cans and bottles for you and turn them in to a buy-back recycling center.
  • Organize a service raffle. Get four people (one can be you) to donate a simple but valuable service that many people could use and sell raffle tickets for $3-$5 each. Keep the price a little high so you don't have to sell too many and so that the buyers have a higher chance of winning. Services can include childcare for a weekend or for any weekend night two weekends in a row; one day of housecleaning; yard work; house painting (interior or exterior), etc.

We would like to thank you for your ongoing support as we continue to come together to help each other end the stigma surrounding mental illness. Your fundraising efforts are making a difference in the lives of so many in our community. We couldn't do it without you!

Why I Ride - ATB Financial

We are pleased to announce ATB Financial as an Advocate Sponsor for this year’s Ride Don’t Hide event!

Kerilee Snatenchuk with ATB Financial is their lead for mental health strategy, which launched 5 years ago. ATB Financial and Kerilee have been involved with Ride Don’t Hide since the inaugural ride in 2014 starting with 4 team members and growing to 28 riders in 2017.

“We had been working on some Workplace Mental Health training and hosting a live feed for the Bottom Line Mental Health Conference. Ride Don’t Hide in British Columbia was well established and there was an interested in creating a similar event to raise awareness and funds in Alberta. I was happy to share the event to our internal network of cycling enthusiast and also amplify our message of mental wellness and stigma reduction inside ATB.”
