Dear Riders,
Spring is in the air, time to beat the Fiesta Super Saver Deadline! The 3rd Annual Ellsworth Fiesta Metric Century, has it's Start & Finish in beautiful Downtown San Diego, by the Bay. Fiesta rolls on Sat, Jun 11, '11. Last year was a complete sell-out, so sign up early and SAVE!
(Super Saver Deadline is Mar 31, '11)
Shadow Tour welcomes Ellsworth Handcrafted Bicycles as the 2011 Title Sponsor! Ellsworth previously sponsored the Fiesta & Stagecoach century rides. Many Thanks to Tony, Summer, Greg, and the entire Ellsworth Team.
For Sturdy Veteran Shadow Tour riders, the Fiesta Metric is a far less intimidating event, with a genuine family & friends focus. Check out the new Harbor Attractions section on the website, listing lots of fun activities for non-riding friends & family to enjoy while riders do their thing.
Maybe try a Hornblower 1 & 2 hour Harbor Cruise, Seaport Village Shopping, visit the San Diego Maritime Museum, the Star of India and USS Midway, or the Little Italy Farmer's Market, perhaps a relaxing lunch at Anthony's Grotto on the Bay. There are a multitude of cool attractions within easy walking distance. Join the "Mellow Metric", the ideal way to sample San Diego's Finest Summer Cycling, all in a very managable, compact morning/afternoon on the Bay.
The 3rd Annual Fiesta welcomes back El Indio Restaurant, who will cater the included Fiesta Mexican Buffet right at the Finish Line for all registered riders. The Healthy Living expo/festival will feature a DJ, live music performed by Manny Cepeda's Salsa Trio, sponsor booths, and a canopy area for riders to sit down with friends & family and enjoy the Fiesta Buffet, sun, and cool breezes off the San Diego Bay. Summer cycling doesn't get any better than this!
The Fiesta Metric offers shorter routes at a lower price for beginners. All routes are easy, out-n-back design, and allow riders to modify distances, if needed. This is a perfect opportunity for new cyclists to join in an organized ride. Check out UrideTV's video from the 2010 Fiesta to get just a taste of the positive energy of the participants.
The Fiesta Metric Century offers a delightful ride along the San Diego Bay, Sweetwater Bikepath, Otay Lakes, to the turnaround under the shadetrees at Pio Poco Thousand Trails RV and Campground, and a return along the same route to the Finish Line Fiesta by the Bay.
There are 4 fully-stocked Rest Stops on the well marked route to refuel & rehydrate. Friendly volunteers gladly assist to make your ride enjoyable and memorable. To learn how to become a Fiesta volunteer, please click here.
Make sure your bike is in top shape! Check out the Bike Shops & Mobile Repair "Sponsors Messages" below. All offer Special Fiesta Metric pricing. Some can service your bike at your home, office, or even out on the road (may want to add tele #'s into your cell phone!).

He recommends buying strong automobile Uninsured/Underinsured Motorists (UM/UIM) coverage, because it covers you in most cases if you're hit while riding your bicycle.
