Not all getaways are about walking about in clamdiggers day and night. Don't forget that some excursions are extra important: weddings, anniversaries, special meetings. If you're in a relaxing resort area, though, you don't want your elegant dinner to be uptight. If you're headed to the Midwest this summer, Lola's on the Lake at the Osthoff Resort will fit the bill well.

Lola's is much more than a compilation of items on a menu. The restaurant has a commitment to incorporating as many local food products into their dishes as possible. Serving organic food is also important to them. I'm glad I had a chance to experience it!

Lola's menu is diverse, ranging from spa cuisine served in the hotel's spa to the richest meats. The menu accommodates vegetarians nicely, as well as people looking for game poultry or a big steak.

Lola's has a local farm, Golden Bear, providing free-range Berkshire pork for a chef's preparation of the day. Herbs for dishes are grown on site. Wisconsin's best local cheeses, including Sartori's BellaVitano, Saxon Creamery's Pastures and Hook's Paradise blue cheese appear on the menu.

Chocolate lovers will dig the Chocolate Trio on the dessert menu, including Belgian chocolate mousse.
