Agenda
Make sure to check out what's new on the Tentative Agenda.  The Presidential Reception & Banquet has been combined with the Opening Ceremony & Dance on Thursday, July 4. This will allow attendees to schedule District gatherings or other offsite events on Friday night. The William H. Harrison Society Recognition Dinner has been moved to Friday evening, July 5. Finally, a new "can't miss" event has been scheduled for Saturday, July 6. Join your fellow Optimists and leave a mark on Cincinnati during a Charity Chili Fest that will benefit local Cincinnati youth charities.

 

Youth Adventures
Will you be bringing your family to the International Convention? Learn about the fun activities scheduled to keep the youngest attendees busy. Kids will be able to touch a shark at the Newport Aquarium; climb, crawl and explore at the Duke Energy Children's Museum; and enjoy a thrilling day at Kings Island, the largest amusement & waterpark in the Midwest! Registration
A total of 125 Optimists from 33 Districts have already registered for the International Convention. We are expecting more than 1,400 attendees, so make sure to register now to join your fellow Optimists for all that the International Convention has to offer. Register online at www.optimist.org/convention or download the 2013 Convention Registration Form to register by mail or fax.

Cincinnati Fun Facts

Cincinnati has a rich history including laying claim to the following significant "firsts":

 

The first bag of airmail was lifted by a hot air balloon in 1835.


The first city in the U.S. to publish greeting cards in 1850 - Gibson Greeting Card Company.


In 1869, the Cincinnati Red Stockings were considered the first professional baseball team in the U.S.


The first concrete skyscraper in the U.S., the Ingalls Building, was built in 1902.


The first heart-lung machine, developed at the Children's Hospital Medical Center, made open heart surgery possible in 1952.
