Dear Friends and Colleagues,
We invite you to take a few moments to explore our upcoming UC San Diego Center for Mindfulness Professional Training Programs. Our talented teachers and highly experiential programs are particularly well-suited to help you develop the skills and abilities needed to bring these programs to the people with whom you work. Read below about a few new developments related to the programs offered in January and February. |

MBCP

"The birth of a child is truly a beginning, not only of a new beginning entering this world, but of individuals becoming or deepening their role as a parent. The Mindfulness-Based Childbirth and Parenting (MBCP) program has been created to serve those going through
this profound transformation and who then continue to work at one of the most important, joyous and challenging jobs on the planet, that of nurturing and caring for the next generation."
--Nancy Bardacke
This marks the second time that the MBCP Professional Training has been offered through UCSD and this year it has been extended by a day to accommodate the richness and depth of the program. This follows on the heels of July 2012 publication of Nancy's book Mindful Birthing: Training the Mind, Body and Heart for Childbirth and Beyond.
Join Nancy and her colleagues in January if you work professionally with expectant parents in any capacity. Space is still available!

MBCT
February 17-22, 2013 EarthRise Retreat Center, Petaluma, CA
|
The heart of MBCT lies in acquainting patients with the modes of mind that often characterize mood disorders while simultaneously inviting them to develop a new relationship to these modes. Patients learn to view thoughts as events in the mind, independent of their content and emotional charge. They need not be disputed, fixed or changed but are held in a more spacious awareness, large enough to contain aspects of the self deemed both broken and whole.
 | | Zindel Segal, Ph.D. | This marks the tenth time that UCSD has offered the 5-day Professional Training in MBCT, and each time it is a unique and special experience. The blend of mindfulness practice, experiential learning and the intimacy of a small group of approximately 40 people with 3 teachers, provides a unique and powerful training experience. The upcoming publication of the 2nd Edition of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Depression by Segal, Williams and Teasdale is an indicator of the popularity of MBCT and the training program itself.
