ACGS Fall Conference and Annual Meeting

St Mary Bank Mural

Welcome to the details on the 2014 Fall Conference and Annual Meeting.  Thanks to feedback from last year's off-site conference and soire, the Conference committee decided to return to the soire site for this year's conference and again include a buffet lunch in the day's program.

When the program went to press in the last issue of the Genealogist, plans for the raffles/auction were not finalized. The committee decided against holding an Auction but a Raffle with lots of wonderful items is planned.

We hope that you enjoy the engaging roster of speakers and raffle.  See you there!

Walter Hickey: Naturalization Records Online and More

This session will present an overview of some of the naturalization records available on line, as well as the records series available from the Genealogy Program of the United States Citizenship & Immigration Service (USCIS), formerly the Immigration & Naturalization Service (INS).

This program makes available several series of genealogically important naturalization files.

Sandra Goodwin: Using Print-on-Demand: Write a Family History Book Your Relatives Will Actually Want to Read

Genealogists love to discover a compiled genealogy of their surname of interest. The thicker the better! But how does the rest of your family feel about reading it. Would they sit down and read it even if YOU were the author?

This lecture covers three related issues: how to leave behind your materials when you're gone, how to choose a project that's not as intimidating as a compiled genealogy, and how to construct it in a format that your family will find riveting.

Discover how to write creative print-on-demand books that your family won't want to put down.

Michael Leclerc: Advanced French-Canadian Research

Move beyond indexes and images from parish registers to propel your research. Discover a variety of online, print, and original records that will help you blast through brick walls and give you more information about your ancestors.
