Happy New Year!

This is a very exciting time for our community.  After hurricanes and storms, it is no surprise that we have not only survived, but we have triumphed.   Your FIPPOA Board of Directors have been working non stop to make sure that your love for our community is matched by our energy and hard work all year round to sustain and improve our quality of life in the Pines,  as well as our property values.  We have devoted our time to our new beach project, working with the Fire Island Association, the Army Corps of Engineers and our politicians, on your behalf, to coordinate our beach replenishment project.  We have worked tirelessly to manage Fire Island Blvd, to clean it up so that it is a welcoming sight for all.  We have maintained our harbor, our most valuable asset, and continue to bring it to state of the art condition.   We have balanced our budget, worked with the commercial district so that we can help them continue to strive for an excellent relationship where they respect our need for them to control the noise levels, and at the same time, provide a healthy and active business community that meets our needs.   We work with all our contractors, our freight company, our garbage removal company and maintain the freight dock as well.   We work hand in hand with Sayville Ferry, so that we can have the best service and schedules that meet all our homeowner's various needs and desires.   We continue to provide our Damminix rodent control  program as well as maintain our beach with snow fencing and most importantly , keep our harbor safe and beautiful.  FIPPOA also supports our post office as well as providing our police station, that operates all year round.    Our charitable foundation reaches out to our governmental agencies and helps to build relationships with our local, state and Federal politicians.  The foundation runs and maintains Whyte Hall, as we strive for the entire community to enjoy our community center.  Whyte Hall  provides us as a venue for entertainment, community meetings, fundraisers, charitable events, church services, high holiday services, for all members of our community.  It also can be rented as the perfect venue to celebrate a marriage, an anniversary, a Birthday , an event, a recital, or just a party or private gathering.   It also serves as our home for the Pines Care Center and houses our Doctor, as well as our FIPPOA office.

All this and more can only be done with YOUR support.  The great majority of our income comes from our membership drive, which is beginning this week for 2014.  Our membership dues are still very fair and conservative, even with the slight increase that we find necessary.  Importantly, every dollar of your membership goes back into the community.  And each household membership gives you a vote in our election and more importantly , gives you a voice.   It is all of you who determine our future, our polices, and who serves on our board.  If you are a couple, and you own two homes or more in the Pines, then for an extra $125, you both get a vote.   And our associate membership remains at $75 for those very special renters and those who work in the community, who wish to be a non voting member of our association.

As we begin 2014 and look forward to Spring , your board will be working on your behalf so that from the moment you step on that first ferry of the new season, you will be returning home to the same magical island that brought you here in the first place, plus our assurance that your quality of life here in the Pines is protected on all levels.  Please join FIPPOA and exercise your voice in our community so that we can work together and in unison for 2014.

FIPPOA is your homeowner's association, and Fire Island Pines is your home, where our neighbors became our friends and where our friends became our family.   We all have one major goal, to keep the Pines as magical as we discovered it.

 Thank you,
Jon Wilner
