(LYNNWOOD, WA) The Lynnwood Public Facilities District announced that the 55,000 square foot Lynnwood Convention Center had its most successful year ever in 2014. Angie Mykel, General Manager of the Lynnwood Convention Center, made the announcement earlier this week.
The more than $3.1 Million in gross revenue was the highest in the Center's nine-year operating history. The record year also marked the second consecutive year the facility did not require an operating subsidy. "Once again, we're incredibly proud of the work of Angie and her team," said George Sherwin, Board Chair for the Lynnwood Public Facilities District. "Not only did they deliver record numbers, but they also were responsible for the highest guest satisfaction ratings in the history of the building. Results like these are impressive; we have a great team here in Lynnwood," Sherwin added.
In 2014, facility users gave the convention center's food and beverage high marks with a 94% satisfaction rating and a 96% overall satisfaction rating. "We love saying 'yes' and we mean it. The staff takes guest satisfaction seriously - it's our top priority." Mykel said.
"The Lynnwood Convention Center continues to be a contributing force in Lynnwood's economic development efforts," said David Kleitsch, Lynnwood's Economic Development Director. "The City commends the Lynnwood Public Facilities District on their success."
In addition to record high revenue, the Center also generated an estimated $24.8 Million in economic impact and over 15,000 room nights for local hotels "Generating hotel room nights for the community is an important role for any convention center. We understand the importance of visitor dollars, and we're proud to be able to say we contributed to the success of our local hotels." Mykel said.
The Lynnwood Convention Center hosts a wide range of events including: conventions, consumer shows, corporate meetings, fundraising auctions, weddings, community gatherings, religious services, and memorial services. Through eight years of operation, the Center has hosted 3,858 events and over 744,000 guests, generating an estimated $146 Million in economic impact for the local economy. The Lynnwood Public Facilities District owns the Lynnwood Convention Center and contracts with SMG to manage the facility.
