February 12, 2014

Although we have not yet received their 'Official' New Product Announcements, Spark's 2014 Catalog has been circulating online for the past few days.

You can view or download a pdf file of the complete 2014 Spark Catalog HERE.

There are a lot of exciting new models in there, along with items from previous catalogs that have not yet been produced. As we've seen and heard from sources who attended Toy Fair and from new items announced by other companies, the trend this year is for larger scale, 1/18 and 1/12, models with an occasional 1/8 piece thrown in for good measure. Spark follows that trend with an exciting new series of 1/18 scale classic Grand Prix cars, including Alan Jones' 1980 World Championship winning Williams FW07BNelson Piquet's 1987 World Champion Canon Williams Honda FW11B and Ronnie Peterson's 'Tea Table' March 711.

But perhaps the most exciting news from Spark is that they intend to produce our customers' All-Time #1 Most Requested "Please Do This In 1/18 Scale" Model: the Lowenbrau Porsche 962.The model will be produced in the winning 1987 24 Hours of Daytona configuration. Although we do not have any accurate release date information as yet, we recommend you get on the advance order list asap if you want one. It could be the most popular 1/18 piece Spark has ever produced!

The proposed 1/18 Formula One offerings have been uploaded to the Online Shopping website HERE along with some of the other more interesting subjects.

There are some terrific 1/43 scale subjects in the 2014 catalog as well, including some significant cars from the Indianapolis 500: Peter Revson's 1971 Pole winning McLaren M16, the Parnelli Jones STP Turbine, AJ Foyt's 1967 Indy winning Coyote, Mario Andretti's 1969 Indy winning Brawner Hawk and Dan Gurney's 1967 Rex Mays 300 winning Eagle

There are scores of classic LeMans, Formula 1, Formula 2 and Rally cars in the 1/43 scale section of the catalog along with some pre-war Classics and race Transporters. We've uploaded more than 100 of the 1/43 items to our Online Shopping site and will add more over the next few weeks.

You can access Spark's forthcoming 1/43 scale offerings HERE, or all listings from the 2014 Spark Catalog by clicking this link or entering 14scat in the search engine box of our Online Shopping site.

If you see something in the Catalog that isn't listed on our website, just give me a call at 800.722.8630 or drop me an email and we'll reserve it for you.

Since many of these models won't appear for a year or three, we haven't listed prices on the new items as yet. Due to changing currency rates and labor costs, we've seen across the board increases in most products produced in China over the past few years. Good news if you want to move manufacturing back to the US, bad news if you're a model collector.

Having said that, we've been informed by the US Distributor that there will be a price increase - effective immediately - on all future shipments of Spark models. Our price on all new 1/43 scale models will be $79.99. New 1/18 will be priced between $199.00 and $208.00.

Don't shoot the messenger!

We'll be back by the weekend to tell you about CMC, Schuco and others.
