Thursday, September 25

Depart late morning on an American flight from Wichita (connecting in Dallas) to arrive in San Antonio mid-afternoon. Transfer to the Courtyard San Antonio Riverwalk Hotel, located on the Riverwalk and steps from popular attractions, shops and restaurants. This evening embark on a river cruiser as we tour along the Riverwalk, a verdant oasis of cypress-lined paths, arched stone bridges and lush landscapes gently winding through the center of the city. Dinner this evening is at Casa Rio for authentic Mexican cuisine.

Friday, September 26
Our day begins with a private sightseeing tour of San Antonio, exploring the city, visiting its iconic sites, and hearing about the history from its Spanish roots to its dynamic present. The afternoon and evening is free for you to enjoy as you choose. For those interested we are offering a cooking class with Blanca Aldaco, "Salsa and Margarita 101". (More information below)

Saturday, September 27 
Today is the day for you to pursue your own interests.

• Visit the Pearl District (north end of the Riverwalk), a culinary and cultural destination. Pearl is host to a producers only farmers market every Saturday morning.

• Pursue outdoor diversions ... numerous hike and bike trails to enjoy.

• Head out to see Shamu and spend the day at San Antonio SeaWorld.

• Explore the shops at La Villata and the Mexican market at El Mercardo.

• There are art museums, history museums, and a Texas Ranger Museum!

A perfect way to cap off the day is to get together with friends at the hotel's patio looking out over the riverwalk.

Sunday, September 28
This morning depart San Antonio and travel north through the scenic Texas Hill Country. We will visit the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park, which honors and tells the story of our 36th president, then continue on to Fredericksburg. Enjoy lunch here followed by some time to enjoy this small town of German heritage. We will arrive back to San Antonio late afternoon.

Monday, September 29
Return to Kansas today, with a late morning departure from the hotel ... again with American flights (connecting through Dallas) and an arrival in Wichita by 5 p.m. 

Optional:  Cooking with Blanca ... if there is enough interest we can make arrangements for a cooking class with Blanca Adalco.  A native of Guadalajara, Mexico, Blanca's name has become synonymous with authentic Mexican cuisine. An entrepreneur and restaurateur for more than 24 years, Blanca will teach us how to make classic salsas and the perfect margarita. We need to have a minimum of 20 people participating ... the cost is $100 per person. (Included are taquitos and nachos, iced tea or soda, and margaritas ... as well as transportation.) A great way to spend an afternoon! Please let us know if you are interested and arrangements will be made for Friday afternoon.
