U.S. Supreme Court Rules in Favor of Health Law

 

Since its inception, the Brandywine Health Foundation has supported agencies in our community focused on enrolling our neighbors in health insurance, including the Maternal and Child Health Consortium and ChesPenn Health Services.  On June 25, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the subsidies that have made it possible for over 17,000 residents of Chester County - and over 370,000 Pennsylvanians - to enroll in health insurance are protected.  This ruling not only means improved access to health care for the newly covered, but also means that our area's health providers will receive reimbursement for services provided to those previously uninsured.

Coatesville: Where Community Development and Community Health Intersect

People across the country are taking notice of the positive changes that are happening here in Coatesville. The Brandywine Health Foundation received national attention in the latest blog post of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation funded project called the Build Healthy Places Network, which emphasizes the connection between health care and community/economic development.   CHECK IT OUT!

 

Ronjae Jones Receives the Harry Lewis, Jr. Scholarship Award

Ronjae Jones receives congratulations from his mentor, State Representative Harry Lewis, Jr. 
"He has affected my life, as a man, role model and leader, and continues to do that for me today" remarked Ronjae.

The Brandywine Health Foundation was honored and  proud to present the f ourth annual Harry  Lewis, Jr. Scholarship Award to Ronjae Jones at this year's Garden Party.  Ronjae has been admitted to Morehouse College and will receive $5,000 each year for up to four years towards his tuition and fees. He has been selected because he has been actively involved in the Coatesville Youth Initiative, and has demonstrated a commitment to improving the quality of life in the greater Coatesville community
 
The BHF Board of Directors created this scholarship three years ago in honor of our past board chair, Harry Lewis, Jr.  With the help of numerous generous donors to the Campaign for Coatesville's Kids, we have endowed the scholarship so that it can provide young people with this life changing opportunity  for years to come.
