The equity markets started 2016 on a swift downward trend. However, by mid-February, the markets reversed direction ending the quarter about where they started. Many institutional investors believe that volatility is here to stay. Global headwinds remain including the slowdown in China’s economy, the changes in United States Federal Reserve policy, low commodity prices, and the upcoming presidential election. Even with all the headwinds, many believe the continued growth (albeit at a slow pace) in many economies throughout the world will be the overriding factor to drive the markets.

If you've already created an online account, congratulations! However, also make sure to log on to your account on an annual basis and review your earnings history for accuracy. Contact SSA (800-772-1213) immediately if you think your record is incorrect.
