2016 California  Flood Preparedness Week

Interactive Student Flood Game Gets Maximum Visibility
Riverbank Elementary will participate in a news conference as part of 2016 California Flood Preparedness Week on Wednesday, October 26 at 10 a.m. Students will play West Sac Flood Protect’s fun and interactive Flood Challenge computer game educating them to Plan. Pack. and Protect. in case of a flood event.  When each student completes the game, they sign a pledge to Plan. Pack. and Protect. The certificate is printed out for them to take home to their family and parents to talk about the importance of flood protection.
West Sacramento Vice Mayor Beverly “Babs” Sandeen and representatives from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, California Department of Water Resources and West Sac Flood Protect will be on hand at the news conference. Speakers will discuss important achievements the City is making in levee improvements and recent legislation led by Congresswoman Matsui that lead to more federal funding of West Sacramento levee improvement projects.

It’s up to the City of West Sacramento residents and business owners to prepare for a flood before it happens by making emergency kits, identifying emergency contacts and creating a plan.
