Critically acclaimed author David McDonnell
brings Irish storytelling to the 2016
St. Augustine Celtic Music & Heritage Festival

Three-day event set for March 11-13 at Francis Field

St. Augustine, FL - Save the date for March 11-13, 2016, when Celtic heritage and music takes over the Ancient City - the 6th Annual St. Augustine Celtic Music & Heritage Festival.

In addition to the St. Patrick's Day Parade on March 12 in downtown St. Augustine, the weekend event is filled with live entertainment, Highland games, clans from Ireland and Scotland, whisky tasting, and other Celtic activities - all at Francis Field, 29 W. Castillo Drive, in downtown St. Augustine across from the parking garage.

"The Celtic Festival is arguably the finest collaboration of Celtic artists assembled in the United States," said Albert Syeles, President of Romanza St. Augustine, the organization that produces the event each year.

DAVID MCDONNELL

New this year, Irish storytelling will be featured, with critically acclaimed author and story teller David McDonnell.

He has a vast repertoire of stories and a near encyclopedic recollection of Irish history and culture. He's shared his stories at Irish and Celtic festivals, Irish pubs, libraries, heritage centers, and book stores across North America and Ireland. David's stories draw upon Irish history, culture and folklore, with his vivid imagination and wry sense of humor added to the mix.

David's book, ClanDonnell: A Storied History of Ireland, won three national literary awards and received universally positive book reviews. ClanDonnell is a collection of stories of an Irish clan which tell the history of Ireland in an entertaining, easy-to-read fashion.

The tone is that of an oral history. The human stories, numerous illustrations, and humor bring the history of Ireland to life for the non-historian reader.
David spent most of his life in Michigan, and earned his bachelor's and doctorate degree at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He currently lives on Grand Traverse Bay, enjoying the Lake Michigan sunset almost every evening. More information about him and his book is at www.clandonnell.net.
