Thanks!
Thank you to everyone who made it to the Council-Wide Roundtable & Popcorn Kickoff this past Saturday, August 27. A lot of popcorn was distributed and we wish your unit the utmost success as you raise money for Scouting Adventures!
Order #2
The Popcorn System is now open to accept unit orders for Order #2. This order is an opportunity for units to:
  • Replenish their inventory if they have sold out or are low on certain products.
  • Place their first Show and Sell/Deliver order if they did not place Order #1.
  • Order chocolate products (first opportunity to do so).

Please remember that your unit must place this order via the Popcorn System no later than Monday, September 12.

There will be several options for Order #2 pick-up to provide units with a date, time and location that is most convenient for them, especially considering that the 100th Anniversary Celebration for Musser Scout Reservation, Musser Madness, is taking place on September 23-25. Please review the list of dates and locations where you can choose to pick-up your Order #2.

After submitting your Order #2 in the popcorn system, please also visit this link to indicate the day, time and location that is most convenient for you to pick up your popcorn. It is very important that you let us know where you'd like to pick up Order #2.

Popcorn System Updates
Trail's End is continuing to add features and capabilities to the new Popcorn System. Thank you for your patience as they roll out the new platform!
Digital App
(Our apologies for the delay in rolling out this new feature. We received conflicting information and wanted to make sure that there wasn't any more confusion than there needed to be.)

Trail's End is pleased to announce that the mobile take order form is available for download from the Apple, Android and Windows App Stores. This app will allow Scouts to take orders on a mobile device and accept payment in cash, check or credit card. Orders will be automatically uploaded to the Trail's End Popcorn System rolling into the units' orders.

These orders will be rolled into Order #3 (Take Order). The app also provides the option to mark an order as delivered (so it doesn't roll into Order #3), so it can be used for Show and Sells/Delivers. Be advised, however, that the app only accepts manual entry of credit card numbers. Therefore, it may not be the best option for high-volume show and sells. Instead, your unit can continue to use other credit card providers/readers as it has in the past.

Importantly, this app is not part of the online selling platform; therefore, product will still need to be delivered to the consumer. Online selling at trails-end.com will continue to be direct-to-consumer delivery.

Enabling the app requires that the unit be set up in the Trail's End Popcorn System. The council has given permission to all units for app orders and assigned delivery locations to the orders and for each unit on the app enabled orders. The unit will need to provide banking information.

Step-by-step instructions for using the app are provided in the video below.

Additional Resources:
Resources
Scout order forms, posters, and Unit Leader Guides were available to pick-up on August 27. If you haven't received these items yet or need more, please stop by the Firestone Scouting Resource Center or contact your district kernel or professional.

The Cradle of Liberty Council has launched a new website. The link to the Popcorn Fundraiser page has remained the same: colbsa.org/popcorn. Please note that some links in previous versions of this newsletter no longer work. Check out the site for a host of information and resources to help your unit have a successful fundraiser!

Wawa Show and Sell "Lottery"
The lottery to sell in front of select Wawa stores on Saturday, October 1 or Sunday, October 2 has closed. Thank you to all the units that entered.

Results will be posted at colbsa.org/popcorn and in the Kernel Connection next week.
Show & Sells at SEPTA Locations
Once again, the Cradle of Liberty Council has obtained a permit from SEPTA for Scouting units to sell popcorn at selection of stations, listed below, from Saturday, August 27 through Friday, October 21. The permit covers the following list of SEPTA locations; please note that not every SEPTA location has been approved due to space, safety concerns and station ownership.

Units can reserve a date to sell at any of these stations, on weekdays from 3 to 7 PM or on weekends from 11 AM to 4 PM. When selling at the station, a copy of the permit must be available. Scouts must be accompanied by appropriate adult supervision at all times, must not obstruct any foot traffic, and must obey any posted rules or direction by SEPTA authorities on the premises.

To make arrangements for your Scouts to sell at one of the stations below, please send your request with your unit number, requested station and requested date to popcorn@colbsa.org. You will receive a response with approval, if no other unit has reserved the space, as well as a copy of the permit for your unit to display.
