2016 Melges 24 European Championship in Hyères
Is Open For Entries
Melges 24 European Championship 2016 will take place from 2nd to 9th September 2016 in Hyères, France.
February 5th, 2016 - Hyères, FranceThe Notice of Race has been published for the Melges 24 European Championship 2016 and Melges 24 sailors are invited to make their entries for the most prestigious event of the year in Europe that takes place from 2nd to 9th September 2016 in Hyères, France.

The 2016 Melges 24 European Championship will be hosted by the Cercle d'Organisation du Yachting de Compétition Hyérois (COYCH), in co-operation with the International Melges 24 Class Association (IM24CA) and the French Melges 24 Class. The online entry, the Notice of Race and other information about the venue are available at melges24.com/europeans2016

The fleet is returning to Hyères after 2006 Melges 24 World Championship won by Nicola Celon's Bete Bossini, and 2009 Melges 24 European Championship, won by the three times Melges 24 World Champion, Lorenzo Santini's Uka Uka, with Lorenzo Bressani helming. In 2016 the competitors will sail for the title of the European Champion, now in the hands of Franco Rossini's Blu Moon and Corinthian European Champion, the title which holds Tõnu Tõniste's Lenny.

Hyères is an extremely popular regatta venue for the Melges 24 fleet. The stunning Cote d'Azur location, exceptional sailing conditions, excellent logistical links and outstanding facilities make it a natural choice for major events where the International Melges 24 Class is delighted to be once again.

"Hyères offers great conditions and I expect a big turnout for this event," said Jens Wathne, the Chairman of IM24CA. "Many good teams will compete for the European title in September. The mix of wind and waves will challenge the sailors. At earlier Melges 24 events in Hyères the sailors, me included, have been applauding to the organizing committee for their great job on and off the water. Please join the action and make the Melges 24 Rock!"

"After the World Championship in 2006 and the European Championship in 2009, the COYCH is glad to host the Melges 24 Europeans in September 2016 in Hyères," said Régis Bérenguier, the Regatta Coordinator. "At this time of the year, the sun and the wind are perfect to sail and your friends and families will be able to enjoy the charm of our city. Please feel free to contact us for any matter - COYCH team would love to hear from you."
