Autumn Equinox
Recently we celebrated Autumn Equinox (Sept 22nd). This event is celebrated differently in cultures around the world. Traditionally, it was always a celebration of the harvest. This was the time when people remembered that summer was leaving and winter would be here all too soon. They celebrated the abundance around them, but remembered to take time to dry, preserve, harvest storage crops, and hunt, so that they would have food all winter long. Here in the United States, we often decorate with pumpkins, squash, and corn husks to celebrate this time of year.
