NAVIGATING DIFFICULT CONVERSATIONS
PRECONFERENCE WORKSHOP

Have you ever put up with a bad situation because it feels easier to avoid the confrontation? Whether it's addressing a staff member's performance or behavior or negotiating with a vendor or stakeholder on behalf of your library, having difficult conversations is a necessary and regular part of a librarian's job. Register for the preconference workshop, " Having Difficult Conversations: Becoming More Comfortable as a Manager," and learn strategies and practical exercises to tackle these conversations constructively, and with confidence.

Attendance is limited for all preconference workshops, so be sure to register well in advance of the June 19 deadline.

ADVOCACY LEADERSHIP
SKILLS FOR INFLUENCE AND ACTION

Recent threats to access to government information, open government, and privacy have highlighted the importance of law librarian advocacy like never before. AALL's Advocacy Leadership: Skills for Influence and Action will familiarize you with the issues at the top of our public policy agenda and assist you in developing the skills you need to influence policymakers at the federal and state levels.

Learn how to effectively advocate for greater access to and preservation of official, authentic legal information, balanced copyright, net neutrality, and the privacy of library users. Experienced AALL advocates will answer your advocacy questions, and you'll have the opportunity to write to your members of Congress to champion access to legal information and access to justice. You'll leave the leadership session inspired to get involved and prepared to take action.
