2017 CMWIB Summer Wrap Up

As the weather now turns colder, the Central MA Workforce Investment Board takes a moment to reflect back on the work we and our many partners did this past summer to help young people use their time away from the classroom productively.  We are happy to highlight in this special newsletter just a few of the many good things that occurred.

Central MA YouthWorks Summer Program Snapshot

YouthWorks is a state-funded youth employment program that helps teens and young adults get the skills and experience needed to find and keep jobs. Participants engage in paid short-term work experiences at public, private, and non-profit worksites. The program serves income-eligible youth aged 14 to 21 living in targeted cities across the Commonwealth. The program is offered through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development and administered statewide by the Commonwealth Corporation. Locally it is coordinated through the Central MA Workforce Investment Board and managed on their behalf in Worcester by the Worcester Community Action Council and in Southbridge by the
Center of Hope.  A special thank you goes to Massport, the City of Worcester, NORESCO, and MAPFRE Insurance for their additional support for youth participant costs.

Thank You

These summer projects would not have been possible without the support of our many community partners, including our region's employers, schools, social service agencies, and youth serving organizations. A special thank you to the City of Worcester's Youth Opportunities Office, the Worcester Community Action Council (WCAC) and the Center of Hope. Thank you for your continued support and dedication to youth workforce development.
