Currently, the Planning & Development Department has 17 active projects. Once completed, approximately 602 jobs will be created or retained and will yield $69 million in capital investments.

 
Year to date, the Planning & Development Department has completed six projects, creating 315 jobs, totaling $5.8 million in capital investment the city.

Celebrate National Pollinator Week: June 19 - 23

June 19-23 has been designated National Pollinator Week, a time designated to celebrate pollinators and raise awareness about declining pollinator populations. 

The City of Gahanna's commitment to protecting pollinators was formally initiated this past spring when Mayor Tom Kneeland signed a proclamation making Gahanna a Pollinator Community.  

Teen Curfew Reminder

Now that school is out for the summer, the Gahanna Division of Police would like to remind parents about the City's curfew ordinance. 

Per City of Gahanna Ordinance ( Chapter 531.01 ) children under the age of 14 not accompanied by an adult must be indoors by 10 p.m., while teenagers 14-17 must be in by 11 pm.

Help Protect Our Waterways Through Backyard Conservation

The public is invited to attend a FREE backyard conservation workshop on  June 22, 2017, from 7- 8:30 p.m. at the Gahanna Municipal Golf Course Clubhouse, 220 Olde Ridenour Rd. The workshop will discuss urban stormwater, rainwater harvesting and infiltration and rebate options for backyard conservation practices.
Registration is required to attend this workshop.

2017 Independence Day Celebration

Join us in celebrating our nation's independence on July 4th with a full day of exciting activities including a 5k run/walk, the annual Gahanna Lions Club parade, Creekside Family Day and a fireworks display presented by KEMBA Financial Credit Union.

New to the celebration this year is the Independence Day Mayor's Award. This holiday, Mayor Kneeland is encouraging residents, especially children and teens,to get involved by decorating their bikes, wagons and four-legged friends or to help build a float for the annual parade. During the parade, the Mayor will be passing out his award to participants that show their country pride and community spirit.

Herb Center to Host Information Session

The Ohio Herb Education Center is excited to once again host an Intensive Information Session on July 11 at 6:30 p.m. at its location, 110 Mill Street.

The session will focus on two intensive programs, the Gahanna Herb Group and Fundamentals of Home Herbalism. Attendees will gain knowledge to take their herb education to the next level, be able to ask questions to determine which program best fits their needs and meet instructors and past attendees. Registration is not required to attend.
 
Get Your Play On at Gahanna's Great Outdoor Park & Rec Party!
 
Celebrate National Park and Recreation month by joining the City of Gahanna Parks & Recreation staff for an evening of FREE live music and entertainment on July 21 from 6:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. at Friendship Park for our annual Great Outdoors party!
 
Enjoy a variety of activities including a sing-a-long, dress-up Karaoke, kayaking and canoeing on the Big Walnut Creek, interactive games and inflatables.  The evening will conclude with Cinema Under the Stars, showing the movie SING, and a campfire with s'mores.

Display and Art Sale

Throughout the month of June artwork from Rick Buchanan will be featured in the lobby and on the second floor of Gahanna City Hall (200 S. Hamilton Rd.) during normal business hours and is available for purchase.

Inspired by the great outdoors, Buchanan beautifully captures landscapes, nature, commercial spaces, and people through his photographs.

Enjoy Summer at Gahanna Pools

It's not too late to enjoy summer at your Gahanna pools! Purchase your membership during the month of June to break your membership fee into two easy payments.

Membership gives pass holders access to both swimming facilities, the Gahanna Swimming Pool and Hunters Ridge Pool, and FREE or reduced admission to fun summer pool events like Walking Taco Wednesdays or Movie Nights.

19th Annual Creekside Blues & Jazz Festival

Join the Gahanna Convention & Visitors Bureau in celebrating 19 years of Ohio's BEST Blues & Jazz this weekend (June 16-18)!

Enjoy 90 hours of live music on five stages, a FREE Family Fun Zone, cocktail/craft beer tastings, amusement rides, VIP seating packages, food and more -- all set against the beautiful backdrop of Gahanna, Ohio's Creekside District.

GahannaSTRONG
 Couch to 5K 
 
Interested in participating in the GahannaSTRONG 5K run, but not much of a runner? The Gahanna/John E. Bickley YMCA will host a 10-week Couch to 5K training program to help individuals run 3.1 miles. 
 
The program will run from August 19 - October 28, 2017, meeting Saturday mornings at 9:00 a.m. at Bryn Mawr Park,1072 Riva Ridge Blvd.
 
The GahannaSTRONG 5K run will take place on Saturday, October 28 at Creekside Plaza. Proceeds from the event will benefit participants in the LIVESTRONG YMCA program, which provides support to cancer survivors in the community. The cost of the Couch to 5K program is $80 and includes entrance into the race and a t-shirt.
