2017 Satchmo SummerFest Call for Signature Artwork
French Quarter Festivals, Inc. (FQFI) is searching for visual artists to create the 2017 Satchmo SummerFest signature artwork.  The selected artwork will be used as the official Satchmo SummerFest poster, as well as select merchandise sold before, during, and after the event.

The signature artwork is selected by members of the FQFI Merchandise Committee. Selections are based on originality, festival theme, and the French Quarter atmosphere.

Selected Art and Honorarium
The selected artist will receive a monetary honorarium of $1,000. In addition to the honorarium, the artist will receive media and press coverage before, during, and after the festival, as well as the opportunity to utilize a space to exhibit and sell artwork at Satchmo SummerFest. The media and press coverage and the space are valued at roughly $30,000. The artist must to be present to sign and number festival prints prior to the event, in late June.  Event dates are August 4-6, 2017.  The poster will be displayed at the merchandise booth, in press releases, on the website, in festival materials including, but not limited to, brochures, kiosks, and festival signage.

Submission Guidelines
The purpose of this call is to identify the artist to create the 17th annual Satchmo SummerFest signature artwork. The final version of the artwork is subject to change, as FQFI reserves the right to request changes to the design. The design must be original artwork and contain one or more the following to qualify:
  • Louis Armstrong
  • Trumpet or Jazz Band
  • French Quarter Scene

There is no size limit. However, traditionally a standard vertical design with a central focal point and vibrant palate are most successful (transferred to a 22" x 30" print). Please refer to past festival posters below. When designing the artwork, please keep in mind that we are seeking high-quality, merchandisable artwork that can be reproduced across various mediums including but not limited to silkscreen t-shirts.

French Quarter Festivals, Inc. reserves the right not to select artwork if, in its sole discretion, no suitable entries are received.
