AQUATIC FACILITY OPERATOR COURSE

The AFO certification course is a training program specifically designed to meet the needs of those working in public, semi-public and municipal pool or waterpark facilities.

Upon successful completion of the AFO course and exam, participants will be certified by the National Recreation and Park Association.
  • Attendance on both days earns 1.5 CEUs.
  • Certification is valid for 5 years and is renewable.
  • Course dates:  Wednesday 10/25 - Thursday 10/26/2017
  • Hotel block deadline is 10/3/2017.
  • Registration deadline is 10/15/2017.

Barbara Heller is President of Heller and Heller Consulting, LLC, a management consulting firm specializing in state and local government, primarily in the parks and recreation industry.  Her areas of specialty include: strategic planning, master planning, service quality assessments, operational/organizational reviews, leadership development, facilitation of public input processes, and staff training with clients all over the United States.

Chris Nunes, CPRE, is the Director of Parks and Recreation for The Woodlands Township, in The Woodlands, Texas. In that position, a $19.5 million operational budget. In 2015 he received the National Distinguished Professional Award from NRPA and in 2016-1017 he is the President of the American Academy of Parks and Recreation Administrators.  Chris holds a Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Management and a Master's Degree in Sports Management from Springfield College in massachusetts and a Doctorate in Parks and Recreation Administration from the University of New Mexico.

Mike Shelah is the founder of Mike Shelah Consulting.
