a three-day international film festival that celebrates the talent of filmmakers 22 years old and younger from around the world. More than 60 short films from 15 countries, ranging from thought-provoking documentaries and quirky comedies to experimental shorts and a showcase of locally made films, will be shown with filmmakers in attendance!
Screenings are FREE and open to the public. Appropriate for all ages.

Minding The Gap is a coming-of-age documentary saga of three skateboarding friends growing up in their Rust Belt hometown hit hard by decades of recession. In his quest to understand why he and his friends all left home when they were younger, Bing follows 23-year-old Zack as he becomes a father and 17-year-old Keire as he gets his first job. As the film unfolds, Bing is thrust into the middle of Zack's tumultuous relationship with his girlfriend and Keire's inner struggles with his racial identity and his deceased father. While navigating a complex relationship between his camera and his friends, Bing explores the gap between fathers and sons, between discipline and domestic abuse, and ultimately that precarious chasm between childhood and becoming an adult.

Open to the public, the Film Pitch will feature up to four young filmmakers pitching their works-in-progress to a panel of industry professionals. Each filmmaker will get direct feedback from experts who know the film business best! The winner will be chosen and announced at the CineYouth Awards Ceremony. RSVP Now.
5:45 - 7:00pm - AWARDS NIGHT
Join us as we award the best of CineYouth 2018! Winning films will go on to be screened at the 54th Chicago International Film Festival in October 2018. We will also screen the winning Acting For the Camera Workshop scenes and the Film Challenge films created by participants ages 13-18 years old.
