VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR VAIL KIDS ADVENTURE GAMES
Races sold out; approximately 300 Volunteers Needed Aug. 8-12
for the Coolest Kids Race on the Planet
(Vail, Colo.) - The countdown to the Vail Kids Adventure Games (Kids A.G.), presented by Toyota, is on! From Aug. 8-12, children ages six to 14 will race and navigate an adventure course throughout Vail Village and on Vail Mountain that will include mud pits, low ropes course, ziplines, a giant Slope N' Slide, tubing and more.  Although the race is sold out (except for skills clinics, which are still open), adults and kids ages 14 and up who don't want to be left out of the action are being sought to join in as volunteers and help with the various obstacles, course marshaling, transition areas and at the start and finish lines.

Approximately 80-100 volunteers are needed each day to assist with a variety of tasks, which will include helping more than 750 young competitors challenge themselves during the five-day event. "In our ninth year, we're so appreciative of how the community rallies around this event," said Vail Kids A.G. Director Beth Pappas. "This is the largest event in the eight-race series and we've watched it expand over the years. We could not provide such an incredible experience for our racers and their families without the many volunteers that come back annually to watch these kids compete, race and have fun in Vail."

Volunteers will receive an official event T-shirt, while supplies last, socks from national sponsor Darn Tough Vermont and be entered into a volunteer raffle. Local school groups and non-profit organizations who wish to volunteer will receive a financial donation for having no less than 10 people work during the event. Volunteer shifts are as follows:
  • Aug. 8-9, 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Assist with athlete check-in and skills clinics. Shorter shifts are available on these days. An additional morning shift on Thursday, Aug. 9 is available from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Aug. 10-12, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Race day activities including course marshals, timing, athlete check-in, etc. Lunch will be provided for volunteers who sign up for a full shift.
