Sowing Seeds
25th Sunday in Ordinary Time
September 23, 2017
I've referenced the Collect several times - the prayer between the Gloria and the First Reading.  It's mirrored prayer in the Mass is the Prayer After Communion.  (I'll let you guess when that occurs!)  While the Collect leads us into the Liturgy of the Word, the Prayer After Communion leads us from the Liturgy of the Eucharist into the world.  This weekend's prayer is as follows...

Graciously raise up, O Lord,
those you renew with this Sacrament,
that we may come to possess your redemption
both in mystery and in the manner of our life. Through Christ our Lord.

Let us come to Mass this weekend with a renewed commitment to open our hearts to the graces offered in the Eucharist, and the spiritual gifts we receive that empower us to live the gospel.

Mystery of God's Goodness and Mercy
Singing Our Faith
The gospel and first reading clearly establish the mystery of God's goodness and justice.  We shouldn't concern ourselves with trying to understand this mystery.  The passage from St. Paul's letter to the Philippians reminds us to keep Christ close in all things - that's our main concern on the road to Heaven!   read more...
