Hikes will be led by Claytor Lake State Park rangers.
Participants have the option of choosing between three hike routes: easy - ADA accessible, moderate, and advanced.
Easy Hike - .75 Mile Walk
This route leads participants down a winding paved path, following the shore of the lake and wrapping around the historical Howe House. This is a leisurely stroll encompassing beautiful views. The paved path is ADA accessible and a good option for children and strollers.
Moderate Hike - 1.0 Mile Hike
This hiking path will take participants up into the hilly terrain around the lake, along the Shady Ridge Trail. This hike is loop route. It starts and finishes across from Picnic Shelter #1 where all the festivities are held. Expect a few climbs during this hike and wear appropriate hiking shoes.
Advanced Hike - 2.0 Mile Hike
This hiking path will take participants further up into the hilly terrain around the lake. The route will follow the same path as the moderate hike, but will then extend further along the Shady Ridge Trail as well as, the Bent Ridge Trail, offering participants an extended hiking experience.
