Regarding God's Creation
Gen 7:19  The water prevailed more and more upon the earth, so that all the high mountains  everywhere under the heavens  were covered. ... 8:4  In the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the ark rested upon the mountains of Ararat. 5 The water decreased steadily until the tenth month; in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains became visible.   - NASU       (Bold emphasis added.)

Catastrophic Plate Tectonics and the Flood

Part 3:  Basement Rocks and Miles of Mud

This month we will hear and discuss the third lecture in our six-month series on geology.  Last month we looked at Dr. Kurt Wise's overview of the geological evidences supporting a prominent role of plate tectonics in Earth history including continental drift around the globe.
Pangea configuration
Conventional slow and gradual geology has had a hard time explaining the physical causes behind these processes.

Geophysicist Dr. John Baumgardner  has produced physical models and simulations that very successfully explain the motions of the continents and the subduction of ocean floor rocks into the mantle predicting where cold subducting plates should be found and where hot bodies of mantle should be rising. Since then tomographic data has well confirmed these predictions.  So far, Dr. Baumgardner's model and simulations are the only successful method of explaining the physics of the continental motions, plate subduction, and mantle circulation confirmed by the measured
before collapse
observations.

Dr. Wise explained that the catastrophic process began with a collapse of the continental margins of the Pangea continental configuration that placed all of the continents together into a single landmass. This collapse began the accelerating catastrophic processes that drove subduction of oceanic crust, circulating mantle, and redistribution of
collapse begins subduction
continents all approaching a new Earth scale equilibrium in a matter of a very few months! The energy driving this catastrophic process came from the cold dense ocean floor rocks falling through the hot less dense mantle to a much lower gravitational potential deep in the mantle. The whole process would slow and eventually stop as it approached a minimum energy state and a new equilibrium with the continents

in the positions we see today. During this collapse and redistribution it is likely that the oceans would be displaced over the continents in a sequence of continental scale surges reaching complete inundation well before a new equilibrium was reached. While not perfect, Dr. Baumgardner's model and simulation does an amazing job of explaining the physical mechanisms that predict what is actually observed with astounding detailed accuracy.
25 days after collapse

The conventional geologic philosophy struggles to provide any physical mechanism that might be consistent with their slow and gradual philosophy. Even so they are reluctant to follow the physical evidence instead of their preconceived philosophy.

For the next few months the GHCA will bring lectures that focus on a smaller scale where we can consider the structure of the many layers
of rocks.  On March 8th GHCA will start with a brief lecture by igneous rock geologist Dr. Andrew Snelling. Dr. Snelling will explore the foundational rocks of the continents and consider how these rocks might correspond to the days of creation.

In a second lecture Dr. Steve Austin, a geologist specializing in sedimentology, will address one of the most common challenges conventional geologists propose for catastrophic geology: what about
all the mudrocks which are conventionally thought to settle out of water so slowly that it demands very old ages. These mudrocks comprise a majority of the sedimentary rocks on the continents. Dr. Austin provides some amazing answers and proposes how to do new research that is needed. His enthralling lecture is titled, The Mudrock Revolution. Don't miss this, you will love the mud!

Examples of Important YEC Scientific Evidences

Some major examples of physical evidence we point to include:
  • Remains of original soft tissue still found in dinosaur bones. Along with that tissue is C-14 that would decay completely away in less than a hundred thousand years, a tiny fraction of the dinosaur fossil's supposed age.
  • For many years geologists have found C-14 in fossil carbon throughout the fossil record.
  • The origin of the information and molecular machinery in the first living self-reproducing cell remains a complete enigma for biologist and biochemists.
  • In the origin of the universe, big bang theory is being recognized as a dead end by increasing numbers of secular scientists. The hypothesized inflation has nothing to start it, drive it forward, or stop it. Without inflation fatal flaws appear with the absence of predicted antimatter, magnetic monopoles, or any means for the whole universe to come to the same precise background temperature. Then the formation of the first stars is as enigmatic as the origin of the first biological cell. Dark matter and dark energy are as enigmatic as the deep space motions they are needed to explain.
At the root of all standard science are many assumptions that may be quite incorrect. At the top is that there is no God. Another is that present process can be used to explain everything in the past. When we look at a canyon we are taught to assume the river at the bottom cut the canyon. But perhaps tectonic events made the canyon and there is a river at the bottom because water always flows downhill. At the root of big bang theory is a pure assumption that has been named the "Cosmological Principle". Perhaps inaccuracies there are responsible for the big bang's multitude of problems.

There is more about the role of assumptions in science found on our website here. There are many more resources on young earth and young universe evidences here.
