Dear Junior High Parents,

Congratulations to your Junior High students - they have finished the 1 st part of ISTEP+ testing! They will be taking the multiple choice part of ISTEP+ at the end of April – beginning of May. All of our students worked hard to complete the tests to the best of their abilities.
It’s hard to believe, but the end of the 3 rd quarter is Friday, March 9 th . Grades will be released the following week. Please make sure your student is working hard to get work turned in on time and asking for help from teachers during their tutoring hours.

Service Hours Reminder

All Junior High students are required to complete two hours of service each semester. 
Service hours are due on May 1, 2018. A service learning calendar is available outside the cafeteria with a different opportunity every Tuesday and Thursday after school.
CYO Soccer

Co-ed CYO soccer is now available on the CYO website. The code for CRHS is 146CRJH-IN. The fee is $60 - checks can be made payable to CRHS. Money and physical forms can given to Mr. Kyle Powers.
8th Grade Living History Trip

In less than two weeks, 8 th graders will be leaving for their Cardinal Ritter Living History Trip. Please make sure all final payments are made before leaving. Students will be gone from Monday, March 19 th – Thursday, March 22 nd . Students are expected to attend school on Friday, March 23 rd . Some 8 th graders are taking high school classes and are expected to make up all work missed while they are on the trip. Please encourage your student to ask their teacher in advance for the assignments so they may complete the work before returning to school.
CYO Softball & Track

CYO softball and track registrations are now available on the CYO website. The fee for softball is $50 and the fee for track is $40. Please contact Kyle Powers with any questions.

Flower Sale

It's that time of year again! Our annual flower sale is quickly approaching. The flower sale is one of the events that helps fund the Cardinal Ritter Parent Club. The Parent Club supports many activities at the school including graduation, teacher appreciation luncheons, sophomore ring ceremony, and parent-teacher conferences. The hanging baskets and planters make wonderful gifts and orders will arrive on May 4th - just in time for Mother’s Day! This is also an opportunity to earn some service hours. Girls STEM Institute 2018 IUPUI Summer Program

The application for Girls STEM Institute 2018 IUPUI Summer Program is now available at  http://www.girlssteminstitute.org  under the summer institute application tab. The dates are  June 11th - July 6th.  This summer we will focus on using mathematics to understand how money works in and beyond our household budgets. Example topics include but are not limited to the stock market, build personal and community wealth, tax systems, consumer debt, household budgets, and the economics of entrepreneurship. We will also engage in learning experiences related to engineering, computer science, and career and college readiness.   
Cheerleading Information Night

Students interested in trying out for cheerleading for 9 th grade need to attend the information night with a parent on Wednesday, March 28 th at 7:00 pm in the Guadalupe Room. The dates for open gym (learn the material for try-outs) are: April 17th 4:00 pm-5:30 pm and April 26th 4:00 pm-5:30 pm in the CRHS gym.

Eighth Grade Scholarship for High School

The Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, in accordance with our mission to advance and assist with Catholic education, is once again offering two $1000.00 scholarships ($500.00/semester) for the 2018-2019 school year: one to Cardinal Ritter High School and one to Scecina Memorial High School. It is open to all 8 th  grade students planning to attend either school. The student is required to write an essay, limited to 300 words, reflecting on their thoughts about the Value of a Catholic Education. The essay will be evaluated by L.A.O.H. members on the following criteria: Comprehension, Organization/Grammar and Creativity. 
In addition to the essay, a complete entry will include the students' information form, along with his/her most recent report card and ISTEP scores. Scholarship entries should be mailed to Liz Elias, 5801 N. Delaware St., Indianapolis, IN 46220 or submitted via email to  eelias@hallrender.com . Entries must be postmarked by Friday, March 30, 2018 or received via email on that date to be considered. Entries submitted via email must combine all application components into a single PDF. Questions may be directed to Liz at  eelias@hallrender.com  or 317-213-4337.
Below are important dates to note:

  • 8th grade trip $75 deposit was due on March 15th. Please make sure you are up to date with payments for the trip. This should be the last payment.
  • Cardinal Ritter Living History Trip – 8th Grade – March 19th-22nd
  • Early Dismissal on Friday, March 30th (Good Friday)
  • Spring Break (Friday, April 6th – Sunday, April 15th)
